It's time for an LOL:
LOL! We're on the same page-- I feel like such a vulgarian for saying this, but I don't find clover coffee a bit better than a properly-made drip (with fresh and ample grounds), and prefer the "texture" of a french press much more- but I totally am on side with you- espresso is flavour country- nothing will change that for me! Now having said that, I feel the same way about a Clover as I do about a Mistral or a Cyncra: It tells me this coffeehouse is serious. HOWEVER, I have had outstanding espressos (and macchiatos and so forth) from Elektras, La San Marcos, Nuova Simonellis, La Cimbalis, and at least one undrinkable espresso from a LM Linea, so really, there's more to good coffee than the trendiest labels, and I sometimes am bothered by a tendency in the Van-Vic-Sea-Pdx "empire" to eschew anything but Synesso or LM. My favourite coffeehouse here in Calgary uses an Elektra Moderne and they absolutely kick ass with the pulls, the art, the freshness, etc etc etc.
We should continue this in PM but it's great to talk coffee
