It's happening!
---

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid asked the team to be in Edmonton two weeks before the start of training camp for informal skates at Rogers Place. “Everybody is dialed in, everybody is super motivated, everybody is determined, and everybody is in it together,” said McDavid, who wants the team to get a jump start on the 2023-2024 season after their playoffs loss to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Babcock just resigned as coach of blue jackets after him demanding to look at players phones. What a creep this guy is.

This should be the week the Sens sale is finalized.

So far, we haven't seen any major turnover. Only Anthony LeBlanc, the club's president of business operations, and chief marketing officer Tom Hoof, left the club in July. Both did some excellent work since the passing of Mr. Melnyk, reaching the highest ticket sales since 2016-2017.

Cyril Leader, who was a key partner in the Sens return to Ottawa, and continued to work for the team until he was let go by Eugene Melnyk due to the LeBreton fallout with Trinity Group, is set to return at the front office.

Coach D.J. Smith and Pierre Dorion are expected to stick around, at least for now. Smith has done a decent job with the young group, and is well loved by the players, and Dorion has also been instrumental in building a team that should be competitive for the first time since the 2017 playoff run. The Sens are within 900k of the salary cap, with one key player left to sign.

Andlauer is expected to negotiate with the NCC on the new arena deal this fall.

Here's the ownership group, as far as we know:

Quote:
Postmedia has reported Andlauer has put together a group that will include:
  • Anna and Olivia Melnyk, Eugene Melnyk’s daughters, who have opted to retain a 10-per-cent share in the franchise. They wanted to keep a legacy portion because that’s what their father would have wanted and both are convinced this team is close to taking the next step.
  • Local businessman Jeff York, a partner in Farm Boy, and his 20-plus local investors.
  • The Malhotra family, owners of Ottawa home builder Claridge Homes, who have agreed to an investment.
  • Paul and Michael Paletta of Burlington-based Alinea Group holdings, who have been partnered with Andlauer since he initially pursued the franchise last November.
  • Oshawa Generals owner Rocco Tullio, who is also believed to be involved with Andlauer’s group.

The Ottawa Senators officially have a new owner. With his first letter to fans as owner, Michael Andlauer immediately makes an effort to try and get Gatineau NHL fans on board. This is the start of a new era for the team.

His first press conference as owner is set to be at 11am today.

Great to see the team move forward into a new era.

---

Excited to be heading to Edmonton to see the Oilers/Jets on Sunday.

Yesterday's Press Conference. Good intro to Andlauer and his commitment to the team, the fans and the city. Confirmation that a move Downtown is pretty much a given.

Jets introduced their new 3rd jerseys this season celebrating the 1948 RCAF team. Personally think they are pretty sharp.

Those sweaters look terrific.

And I love the gloves. An echo from back in the days when leather equipment only came in one colour!

Twas a preseason game for sure.

I liked 13, 18, 19, 37, 57, 93

Did not like 73 again.

35 looked quite good and saw the puck well; promising for sure.

New seats were fantastic and had cupholders! That in itself was worth the coin.

Oh my those are not good.
I wish the Flames would have gone with the WHL Cowboys white unis.
McDavid and Kadri don’t look happy wearing those either.

McDavid wonders why this unneeded distraction is before him.

Kadri's eyes are empty and wondering where he went wrong.

I know that it is early pre-season and all, but I am seeing a lot of the same undisciplined and lost characters on Oilers.

Curious to see how this shapes up.
