I really like the lines in this building. Sometimes i wish the rods would offer more contrast on the facade but in certain lighting, they do enough.

Carlos with the nice shots showing the contrast I like, really highlighting the clean, crisp lines of this building

I think they should have just removed the spire and made this a supertall. Its roof height would have been the overall height of the Chrysler and its spire/antenna would have the same height.

In a perfect world, the fin things at the top of the building that hide the mechanical equipment and antenna would be lit up, and would fade from light to darker from the bottom up. That'd be awesome. Still a quality building, thanks for the photos.

Ah this is the terribile building i walked past a few months ago.

Now i have no problem if people like this tower (if so, more power to you) but i find this building disgusting. When i first saw it i felt like i was going to puke. The grey color is dull and boring and the shining effect it gets at sunset makes it look um....greasy (i guess).

I got closer to it and

I have no idea what the architect was thinking when he came up with the facade but my first thought was "This piece of shit looks like a giant air vent".

And the top, OH GOD THE TOP! It looks like a post apokalyptic, rotten, rusty, condemmed building. I honestly was shocked. I also did not even notice the spire at first. It's so thin that it seems almost invisible.

The only good thing i can say about this building is that it has a good location and i do like it's height, dimensions and bracing. Other than that

I quite liked the building. My class stood around its base when we went on a field trip after seeing a Broadway show.

I have got used to this building however I will always say the top looks ugly and unfinished!

on a side note,
this building takes center stage in the "enter Gotham" scene at the beginning of the dark knight rises. looks fantastic and very gotham like!

this bldg is nice. looks good in person. lets just hope the 'mesh cladding' and for that matter the 'fritted glass' craze that marked the 'oughts era has passed. i think it has. nytimes is aleady looking rather nostalgic, which is fine and proper considering its newsprint product is certainly nostalgic.

So undecided about this building. Don't hate it, don't love it. Looks like it belongs in Dallas or some booming Asian city, not Manhattan. Like others say the top looks unfinished. I think it looks better without the spire. Another thing I always wondered. BOAT's spire & this building spire? Does that not disrupt 4 Times Square signal from its antenna being so close by?
