In that point douglas stadium plan. It should've been proposed at the end of the peninsula where the park is proposed. And the rest be the same type of urban neighbourhood. The east exchange would be bookended by dense areas.

They should still do the same now, minus the stadium. Might need to bulldoze some areas to do it though.

I think it would be a good idea to build more apartments and condos in the area. They are needed and will be needed in the future.

lol. It was more than just a stadium, you’d know that if you read beyond what you responded to.

But I encourage you to look on google earth to a place called petco park. And the development around there. This easily could have been replicated at point Douglas… but like I said before.. NO VISION

And Again like Edmontons’s ice district, the point Douglas proposal would have been a new build in a reclaimed area.this is much more attractive to developers.

It would have been the catalyst for major change in the downtown core.

This is an opinion, not fact. Petco is in a city with 3 million people in one of the most desirable climates in the world. 80 games per season plus a handful of other events at 30000 or more people will attract more business than a football stadium that attracts 1/8 of the crowds during the year.

A stadium would not somehow make Point Douglas highly desirable - it's surrounded by poverty. And what would the remediation of the land have cost?

Asper's proposal was a pipe dream and only slightly more realistic than Dreamscape Winnipeg.

I envisioned Pt Douglas being developed somewhat like the Forks. If we look at it, there is so much potential, especially in south Point Douglas, and the undeveloped area East of the old Kings hotel, especially towards the far east point near the Red River.

If that area was ever developed into apartments and condos, i am sure it would be more attractive tthan the developments along Waterfront Drivw.

EH Price aka Price Industries has been headquartered in Winnipeg for around 70 years. They are a leading distributor and manufacture of air handling equipment and have a big plant and warehouse (and are expanding again) in East Kildonan in the old EK Industrial Park between Munroe and Kimberly Ave's.

The current family member (Garry Price) that runs it, gave in 2020 around $20 million the U of M engineering department to help their Front and Center Fundraising campaign.

No idea as I was not aware Smith Carter was ever located in that area. All I remember it was behind the former Plumbers & Pipefitters Local Union 254 building on Higgins.

It may be the same one, as there is only one office building on Dewdney

Probably the same place.

I've heard the pipefitters union is to be moving to a new larger building/training centre. But I have note heard about it recently as I assume it was very expensive and was cancelled lol

They are in their new building on Dunlop Ave out in the Inkster Industrial Park since Apr 2023

I have not been down Higgins lately so I don't know if they have sold their old building yet.
