It's just deferred from this month's agenda, I don't think the project is cancelled

Correct.

I should have been more clear butI was rushing.

Went to a meeting in LakeView about the Belmont project and it's the same zoning attorney.

It was the developers decision and I believe it'll be on April or May's agenda.

I've heard that Onni have said that they are committed to starting (maybe finishing) Halsted Point before they kick off 700 West.

Nice! I know it's by Goettsch, but I'm picking up some bKL vibes too.

I might be the only one but I think Phase 1 is hideous, the break in the verticality halfway up, ugly balconies, long podium with an additional stump on top. Pretty much nothing aesthetically pleasing about it.

One Chicago was a good Goettsch residential design where they added balconies in a fairly graceful manner. This... not so much.

Phase 3 (albeit likely a placeholder) reminds me of One Chicago more than phase 1 and 2.

Nice that phase 1 is 600'.

In total 2 500+ and 2 600+ towers when complete. That's pretty decent for the area.

Yeah, count me in the group of being uninspired here.....

Great to see the project moving forward, but not super excited about the design.

How close is this to Halsted Point? I forgot these are two separate projects.

I think that one is a bit more interesting design-wise tbh.

Halsted Pointe is directly North across the river a couple hundred feet from Halsted Landing.

There is a map in this article that shows them https://chicago.urbanize.city/post/r...ng-development

Same sentiment. '

This isn't so much about about the building designs, but 4 total 500'+ buildings and 2 600'+ at this location is going to make this area feel like it's own new city. And that doesn't count any concurrent Halsted Pointe development.

Two 600 footers here are going to look gigantic away from downtown and serve to 'box in' River North from the west making it feel much more urban.

IMO getting the first 600 footer going and breaking ground on Halsted Pointe will be like when Google and McDonalds were initially built in Fulton Market's frontier days. This can be a brand new neighborhood of the city and kick off a decade long development cycle on the North Branch that is long overdue.

Additionally the new Riverwalk space also looks fantastic to me.

I love the developments and I hope it all comes to fruition. One thing I wish was part of the plans would be to widen Halsted along this stretch to accommodate more traffic. It is already a traffic mess.
