I think the traditional sense of the term "upper-class" isn't what was intended. Its true, William and Kate won't be shopping there whenever they drop by for a visit. East Point is, however, more modern and stylish than the other shopping areas around town - you can't disagree with that point (no pun intended).
It was the contrast between fashion retail and automotive retail that was the concern.
Personally, I choose not to see the contrast/conflict but rather how they can complement one another and improve diversity.
I don't expect that I will ever shop at Princess Auto but I'm glad it will be there for people to choose.
