RiverSphere
RiverSphere is a Tulane University place for art, science, and technology, about rivers, for river communities, on the New Orleans Mississippi riverfront.
RiverSphere’s central unifying theme is the Mississippi and other great rivers, considered and analyzed from all angles, from the scholarly to the popular.
At RiverSphere, scientists will work side-by-side with artists; historians will interact with anthropologists. Visitors will chat with researchers; schoolchildren will attend seminars; and musicians and dancers will perform on stages. Visitors to RiverSphere will experience action, interaction, diversity, circulation, participation, and transformation. RiverSphere, in essence, is much like the river.
RiverSphere is slated for an eight-acre site on the banks of the Mississippi River in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana, USA (90o West, 30o North). The site is located about one mile upriver from the French Quarter and 1-2 miles from Tulane University’s downtown and uptown campuses, respectively.
