Given the amounts of double posts (or more) I see on this site, don't worry about it!

Ha! You started on the gravel road! That's good contrast between that one lane pile of dirt vs the urban cross-section a few km to the north.

Construction of the 401/Wonderland interchange is expected to begin in 2013. The new overpass will link the road all the way to Highway 3 in Talbotville, allowing a bypass of Highway 4 and faster travel times to St. Thomas.

Yeah I showed the 401 there on purpose so you can see what it looked like once the interchange is built.

Got a new camera today... my first DSLR! It does 1080p video.

I did a test run with it today while driving to the new Beer Town that opened up in Masonville via Wonderland and Fanshawe Park roads.

I figured that while the footage is generally uninteresting it might be somewhat interesting for you guys. It was spitting rain a bit which kinda added a cool filter effect.

Video Link

Video is unlisted, sped up 4x. Footage is a little shaky but I think I found a way to fix that. Glare is mostly due to the rain.

This is my camera set up on the dash. Flexable tripod and two-sided tape. Pretty amateur eh?

I've got an old Iphone 3gs, and have a time lapse app on it, but I have never figured out how to use it properly...

lapse it pro

what fps do you have set to? I could totally set up an old windshield holder for some time lapses

EDIT - people suck at driving in London....

Also, you live near Notre Dame I'm guessing?

If you have a phone I highly suggest not getting a suction cup mount for it. Will result in very shaky footage. Something from the dash much more stable.

My new camera does 1080p at 24 and 30FPS. It can also do 60FPS at 720p. This test was taken with the 1080@30 setting. Then I sped up the footage 400% in a video editing program.

Ya I live in the Westmount area.

ha, I've done those types with the suction cup before, turned out fine. I'm gonna have to find it first.

I may have to find a route as well to drive. I get bored having the summer off, that's why I took those photo's around town

I've wanted to do a video drive for years though

also, westmount area is large

GF lives on Notre Dame, near Viscount

Seriously, I'm use to the Cannon brand, hence I'm pretty sure Nikon for least, is as much good if not more as Cannon ! I will try one day.

Perhaps, awesome video !

(PS : is it too personnal to ask you the price of your camera ?.... cause the shape looks pretty much the same as mine : Canon S5-IS )

You should switch up the title/thumbnail, this looks more like a cool drive along what exists of London's "ring road" than test footage. Mainly because I'd like to share the video.

I know there is a big Nikon/Canon war going on (along with Sony, Pentax, Olympus, Etc.), but I really didn't consider it. Main reason I got a Nikon D3200 is because it's has what I want in a camera. (Full DSLR with 1080p video that's light and easy to use). No sense getting a point-n-shoot camera these days because camera phones are just as good these days.

I got a good deal on the camera, mostly because I traded in my old one that still held good buy-back value. (http://www.henrys.com/79478-NIKON-D3...R-ONE-BOX.aspx)

Nah, this is in no way my best work. Once I work out the kinks I could redo this route if you want, how about that?

Sounds good, maybe if you have the time you can do the complete ring around the city including Wonderland and Fanshawe Park Roads?

Hey guys! Long time, no talk! I still hang around this subforum sometimes to see how London is doing. I have some new time lapses of Ontario uploaded recently, and more coming:

Richmond Street from Arva to downtown.

Video Link

403 Through Hamilton, Burlington, and Oakville. This was filmed 7 years ago, so sorry for the somewhat crappy quality...

Video Link

And finally the 401 through Windsor with the newly opened sections. (Filmed this summer).
