This particular building is reaching the FAA limits. Winthrop Square only misses the limit by a few feet. Best allowances for height are Back Bay, North Station area, and Kendall Square (Cambridge). Odds are low. We might not even see another 500' for a decade after this one is completed, let alone getting any sort of new tallest anytime soon.

According to the maps you just provided me with, it looks like Downtown Boston no much of Back Bay will never get a supertall. The TransNational building was a nice project, and even so, it was impossible to build such a building in Downtown Boston because it was just too high and the tower was too close to Logan.
The next best scenario is to create another CBD if a city like Boston is going to expand its corporate and commercial space, which is why I mentioned Lower Allston since it looks like it has enough space to build such supertalls within the city of Boston.
Also, with Cambridge nearby, and the different cities such as Somerville, Watertown, Medford, Chelsea, and Lynn, Greater Boston works as one unit rather than different municipalities. Let’s see in the near future if the city leaders can consider a place like Lower Allston to redevelop into another CBD. Not sure if that’s going to happen but it would be cool if it ever did!
