The Goode Condos | 111.4m | 33s | Graywood | a—A l u/c

Located on Parliament at the western edge of the Distillery District. The white crane in the centre of the photo actually belongs to No. 31 Condos … the 2 construction sites are separated only by a shored retaining wall.

Immediately east of these 2 construction sites is the 49 storey proposal for 31R Parliament designed by SHoP and BDP Quadrangle.

Below, all three developments including 31R’s low-rise ‘Ribbon Building’ which will evetually help insulate the Distillery District from the rail corridor to the south.

The parking lot on the left in the photo above will be a small park.

This should be a great addition to Spadina Ave.

There can't be a single spandrel glass window and when was the last time we saw a tower like that.

There isn't a whole lot to see yet but here is a run-down on some of the highrises being built around downtown Dartmouth and in the Macdonald bridge area on the Dartmouth side. There is going to be a completely different skyline in these areas in a few years.

27-storey King's Wharf tower; looks like this crane will be raised soon
You can see the nearly-complete Moffatt's Pharmacy phase I in behind. When that's done the old building will be torn down and another tower will be built there.

Source

27-storey Wyse tower (5 Williams)
20-storey at Wyse and Nantucket
16-storey 153 Wyse
There are 4 towers in the 30-35 storey range proposed for this area (along Wyse Rd)

Source

26-storey tower is going in here, 53 Queen Street

I'm happy that this one has progressed from proposal to construction so quickly - I hope it turns out exactly as rendered.

That area has sure grown up as well. Went from basically zero towers to being completely enclosed in a little over a decade. This is the sort of environment where this type of development makes sense - though I wish more of it looked like 101 Spadina and less like the generic blue spandrel towers.

I don't know. I'd keep fingers crossed while kneeling to the gods. Westbank's debt load difficulties ain't rumours anymore and Allied REIT's value is down 50% from the high at the start of the year.

There is finally sort of a rendering available on the internet for 7177 Quinpool in Halifax, which is now almost completed:

A building permit has been issued for the Ralston development but there's still no actual rendering. Just some rough interpretations of what the planning rules allow. I wonder if this will be another one that will be under construction for years with no clear public renderings. I believe this site was under a pointless 66 m height limit (measured from the average elevation, so top to bottom may be more like 70 m+).

I believe the 2 parking lots visible here are government owned. Almost all underused land in the urban core is some kind of government land banking or tied to government land sales that got bogged down for years/decades.

Richmond Yards:

Source

It's topped out but this area's still only half finished as the corner building is barely started and there are still a lot of details left on the main tower. It's rumoured that the Shoppers is moving into Richmond Yards and then getting redeveloped. If so this corner will be completely transformed. The other side of Robie is pretty good while the Richmond Yards side is a former industrial area that had some big box construction in the 90's/2000's.

Always a good bet HPA designs will something look like what was render-promised ;-). Don't know how they avoid the level of developer value-engineering so many projects suffer from.

Nice to see some heritage retention, and there's enough set-backs that they don't look tacked-on. How much will actually be retained? Is it the entire buildings and interiors, or just the facing outside walls?

Those townhomes were trashed long before this development was a twinkle in Maldive's eye. I don't know why they were incorporated. I'm a little happy that they were kept as the rest of the podium gets a B for effort but a fail for execution. Ideally, they would have spent more attention fine tuning the podium and torn these down for some breathing space.

Recommend a break from The Well.

I said it once before. That Ottawa complex is going to look like shit with flat window wall panels arranged around all those curves.

The Philips square tower 200m-60 floors. I really like how this one turned out, and its stunning impact on the skyline.

Three other 200m towers, the national bank, the Victoria and the 900 st-jacques all topped out or rising. This cluster is quite impressive I must say.

Loving the Well. This will become a very important part of the downtown core. It's got a very industrial and European feel to it's design and scale. Can't wait to go see it in person.
