Paseo doesn't count as downtown? Also, didn't 5RR already have a groundbreaking a while back?

The Paseo started in late November/December 2022 despite the official groundbreaking being in February 2023. That's similar to Waterline starting in April 2022 with the official groundbreaking being in September 2022. "Official" groundbreakings don't necessarily reflect the actual start dates. If 5RR had a "groundbreaking" this year, it had nothing to do with the project actually starting.

Ahhh, gotcha. So I was confusing the event that is called groundbreaking with the process of actually breaking ground.

So nothing else has had work started at all this year?

Smash ATX is not too active on social media but doesn't have any mention of closing. There is a scrolling banner on their website saying they are still open. But their table reservation system is not accepting reservations beyond 09/15.

Smash ATX is open still. System doesn’t allow any reservations beyond 12/15 now, which coincides with their new construction start of 1Q 2024.

Eater Austin article about the closing:
https://austin.eater.com/2024/2/20/2...bar-restaurant

The article gives no indication that they are looking to move to a new location.

No activity yet. They haven't even removed all of Smash's stuff - still chairs, glassware, table numbers, bar equipment, etc visible through the windows.
