has anyone heard anything about Freak Alley being extended to the blocks both east and west? I thought at some point they were going to include the alleyways from capitol all the way to 10th.

or maybe that was just a rumor.

Could have been a rumor, although there is some new art that has been recently painted in the Union Block Alley and the alley between 10th and 11th.

Have you also learned that secret from the river; that there is no such thing as time? That the river is everywhere at the same time, at the source and at the mouth, at the waterfall, at the ferry, at the current, in the ocean and in the mountains.-Hermann Hesse

i have a goal to one day ride the length of the greenbelt from eagle to discovery park and take photos along the way. it's such an epic journey from the mature trees in the western valley to the dry canyon in the east. and, to most visitors, it's an unknown jewel of the city.

maybe i'll fulfill that goal next spring, if santa gets me an electric bike for christmas.

I've always though about doing that as well. Could absolutely be a fun journey. I can say this, I never understood the hype with the electric scooter. My boss bought our group a couple so we can ride around downtown on them, and well, now I get it. Those things are great. I could see myself cruising on one the majority of the greenbelt.

May have to think about getting myself one sometime in the near future.

Electric bikes are cooler than scooters. The scooters are almost deadly on the sidewalks downtown lol, they sneak up on you fast from behind.

The river and greenbelt is such a beautiful asset. I travel frequently for work and have not yet seen anything that compares in the other cities I visit. It definitely does not exist where I live.

When I last visited, my hotel recommended to rent a bike from Idaho Mountain Touring in downtown. That store has a great selection of bikes including electric cruisers.

It would be a tragedy living somewhere where a river looks more like an irrigation ditch because of a lack of stewardship.

The Boise River is literally the soul of this city.

one of my favorite autumn drives is from Boise to Idaho City. when we have more time, we do the loop up to Lowman, then west through Wildlife Canyon to Banks, and back south to Boise.

when i have people visiting who think Idaho is a big potato farm, i take them on that trip.

That is a beautiful drive and a great way to experience the alpine scenery in the Boise Metro and it so close to the valley. Crouch and Garden Valley could be considered a mountain suburb because of proximity.

Here's to 2022! Please keep us out of towners visually updated on the progress of the new downtown towers that hopefully break ground this year.
