It's been a while. Anyone feel like going up in the tower and taking a bunch of pictures? I'd love to see not only this view updated, but also all the mid-rise apartment buildings going up around the fringes of downtown... HEB HQ/courthouse, Pig & Pearl, Southtown, River North, UTSA downtown campus, etc.

That's the old NBC National Bank of San Antonio. It was built in 1957. It's still there, but it's been used as a hotel off and on over the years. The top was also renovated with a pyramid added to the roof.

It's still there.

Real shame it doesn't glow like that today. San Antonio needs to get in gear and modernize.

Few buildings use flood lights anymore. It's really kind of a thing of the past. Now it's all about accent lighting instead of lighting it up like Cape Canaveral.

Ha! A very vivid analogy.

I wish they did light the old NBC bank building again. I had forgot it used to be lit back when I was growing up.

I agree with the need to modernize.

I like it too personally. Gives it sort of a Gotham vibe. I think it used to be an office tower back then though, wouldn't work with it being a hotel now.

Exactly. I always think about how the light will affect the people inside (and next door) when someone makes a lighting suggestion.

Thanks. I thought that's what it is, just wasn't sure from the angle. It did look nice lit up like that, but I can see how it might not work for a hotel.

Speaking of lighting, one of the light sections near the top of Frost is already out after only a couple years. You can see it on the webcam.

Not really from the tower itself but from a drone near the tower. Taken earlier this month.
