Most excellent! This would be the first non-chicago skyscraper over 700' to be built in the midewest in over 25 years. Key tower in cleveland and capella tower in Minneapolis were the last two midwest 700+ footers to be built, both completed in 1992.

Cool... I'm going to have fun documenting this. And SHoP Architects too.

My only issue is that it's not tall enough. This will only be a few feet taller than RenCen and won't while it'll add bulk to the skyline, it won't create a true peak.

Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to this happening.

To me, this will add some MUCH needed balance, especially from the vantage of Belle Isle. If I'm getting the angle correct, that should place it right about here in the skyline:

I think this could be the most important single development for a city in the US that I can remember since WTC. It's obvious this is an extremely important development in terms of the impact this will have on the psyche of visitors, the morale of residents, the profile of the city and the urban fabric.

This is pretty crude but I feel like it might be a few pixels taller than where I put it at. Also might be a little more right and most likely would partially block (if not completely) the Book Tower from this view.

Thanks for putting together a rough sketch. I think given the distance and perspective, it may look slightly shorter, but that looks pretty close.

December 1st is what there saying but it depends on all the necessary financing being completed by November 1st part of that financing includes a tax incentive bill which just passed the state senate and now is making its way to the state house. So its still not a 100% done deal that there will be a 734 ft tower but the timing of this release is telling with the senate passing the measure the other day i think that things are proceeding as envisioned so far, if not slightly delayed.

I think that when the skyline is viewed from the river (which is the best place to view it, IMO), the Renaissance Center will appear to be taller than this, just because it's closer to the river and the height difference is marginal.

It's nice to see development in a city with a reputation for ruin and dismay.

It does make it look less obelisk-like.

I love it as much as I love the unbuilt second Book Tower! Also super nice to see those renderings with LRT in the foreground...
