Am I imagining things or was there once a proposal for twin towers at 13th and Callwohill during the last boom?

Isn't that supposed to be Mandeville Place then, if it's based on the phillyskyline picture?

Actually yeah, you're right. I have a bunch of their cards and always assumed it was Center City tower but you're totally right.

PMC Property's Ron Caplan on potential development over Center City SEPTA tracks

Quote:
On PMC's future development plans
We’re building 2301 John F. Kennedy Blvd. and we own the air rights over the train tracks between North 20th and North 21st streets, and North 21st and North 22nd streets. We could deck over the tracks and do what they did in New York, what they did at Hudson Yards, and build on top over the tracks. We could build a podium between 20th and 22nd streets and put buildings on that podium, which would really finish that part of town.

Philadelphia lands among top five most active regions for venture capital in 1Q

Quote:
Philadelphia has been working to cement its status among the most active regions for venture capital funding, and the first quarter of 2023 kept the region on that path. Greater Philadelphia ranked fifth in the U.S. for the most closed venture capital deals in 2022 and held that spot to begin 2023, according to the latest PitchBook-NVCA Venture Monitor report.

The combined statistical area (CSA) — which stretches as far as Reading to the west, the Jersey Shore to the east, and Dover, Delaware, to the south — closed 94 deals worth about $700 million between January and March. Among the 10 CSAs included by PitchBook, Philadelphia trailed only the Bay Area (533), New York (422), Los Angeles (214) and Boston (167). It beat out regions like Seattle (71), Chicago (79) and Washington, D.C. (80).

This could be the sign of good things ahead; maybe they'll finally build over the tracks; it had been talked about before. If there own the air rights then I assume that can build pretty tall over the said tracks as well.

Lab Notes: Integral Molecular opens new HQ at uCity Square with plans to double its workforce

Quote:
The Philadelphia biotechnology firm unveiled its new $10 million, 32,000-square-foot headquarters and research center that will allow the company to double its workforce over the next few years.

Integral Molecular, which has 100 employees and specializes in developing and applying proprietary technologies to advance the discovery of therapeutics against difficult protein targets, is the first tenant to move into One uCity Square, a 13-story, 400,000-square-foot commercial research building at 25 N. 38th St. in West Philadelphia.

When fully occupied over the next few years, Integral Molecular's offices and research center, which includes pandemic preparedness laboratories, will accommodate up to 200 employees and add 100 new technology-based jobs to the region. The company will expand to the ninth floor next year.

Integral Molecular's last expansion occurred in 2019 when it opened a 26,000-square-foot research site at 3624 Market St.

“Our expansion in uCity Square marks a new and exciting time for Integral Molecular,” said Ben Doranz, the company's co-founder and CEO. "With our expanded infrastructure, we have more capacity for R&D and manufacturing and can quickly mobilize our technologies to combat future viral threats.”

The Sunoco at 23rd and Walnut has been chain-linked fenced off for a few days now. No cars permitted to enter and gas station appears closed. Any updates on this site?
