No but I could see Smart Centres trying to buy it to finish off the 2NC block and making a restaurant pad available there. Then again with the price and how slow the 2NC centre has grown, they may not be eager to jump at it any time soon.

As is, more likely a BK or A&W standalone would grab one of the existing pad locations on the Smart Centre lot, if they were anywhere close to breaking ground. Not quite "In front of WalMart" but close enough for government purposes so to speak.

That space on the East side of Walmart (between the SuperCentre and Saint Mary's), is that part of the Smart Centres lot, or is it just open/for sale?

Here is the site plan. It doesn't look to include anything else. Usually they will have a blue square for buildings that are a "future development"

The building under construction beside the new Speedy on Bishop is a Subway.

Also, structural steel is now going up at the Hampton Inn.

I think it's "Buffet Express" or something like that, I was driving by yesterday. Sign said "grand opening friday", but I didn't see if there was a "next week" after or something. So it might be open today.

Not sure what type of food it is yet, or if it's new owners. Seems like a fast turnaround for a whole new operation.

Went in for lunch today, actually. It's just buffet (and drinks), didn't see a menu for anything else. Trays were well stocked, food wasn't bad. Nothing spectacular, but we were pretty satisfied for $10.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a rebrand of the 777 focusing on the buffet aspect, one person I was with said he recognized the chef from before.

Yeah, Chinese buffet. Pretty standard in terms of what you can expect.

I assure you my friend the guy working there is not a chef by any means. More like a Cook/line cook

Anyone can unfreeze chiense food in the oven.

They've begun clearing trees on one side of Hanwell Road between Kitchen Fashions and Serenity Lane, presumably as a first step towards the road upgrades that are planned for next year.

I believe some areas will receive an upgrade to three lanes for surrounding businesses, and the entire road will get wider shoulders and maybe sidewalks along with the recent repaving.
