sopas ej, right you are!

eBay

This also adds weight to that earlier picture being sited at Belmont Shore.

I stand corrected. Never been to Bluff Park in LB. My fond memories were my recently departed mom, grandfather and other departed relatives at Palisades Park in Santa Monica back in the 1960s, and it seemed to look similar. From there, we would drive to the one and only Sea Lion restaurant in Malibu for a good seafood dinner. The waves literally splashed on the thick windows. Quite a show. One huge El Nino storm with huge waves destroyed the place in the 1970s or 1980s I recall.

Here's a closer look.

I just noticed something. The curb and the utility pole are pretty much in front of the driveway entrance. How did they enter the driveway?
Would they drive in from the right and then make a 90 angle into the entrance gate? I can't figure it out.

in 1910 i think the horse just stepped off the curb

Thanks fullpower. . .but. .um. .what if the horse was attached to a carriage and the carriage house was located behind the house? ..
Of course the point would be moot if there were alleys but I don't think Bunker Hill had alleys. (I might be wrong)

1123 Court was once standing at Boylston a bit west in the Crown Hill area- not on Bunker Hill where Court ended at Flower...

Going by its roof shape and location, here's 1123 Court Street in 1941. It still has the side driveway and utility pole near the entrance. There appears to be a smaller building, possibly a shed, behind the house and a vacant lot next door.

That's great, Hoss! Thanks

The following two original photographs (one sepia, the other black & white) are currently listed on eBay. (links below)

I'm trying to figure out where, exactly, this collapsed bridge was located in Pasadena San Marino. I know there's a Eaton Canyon (and falls) north of Pasadena
but I didn't know there was a Easton Wash as far south as San Marino. (Eaton Wash is mentioned on the back of the photographs)

eBay

..........................The poor guy who was driving that sedan!

"1943/45 PACIFIC ELECTRIC RAILWAY #1143, SAN MARINO, CALIFORNIA PHOTO, LIEBMAN"

As you can see this was taken from the other end of the accident.

eBay

reverse (same info.)

Good luck!...
.......................Find me that bridge, minions.

I'm going to guess that it's where Huntington Drive crosses Eaton Wash. Here's an undated Alan Weeks photo.

Thanks Hoss. ...I know the bridge but had forgotten that it crossed Easton Wash.

Where was the photographer when he took this?

This slide isn't going to win any photographic awards for composition but I love it none-the-less.

eBay

Do you think we're sleuthy enough (here on NLA) to figure out where the photographer was standing when he took the slide? ...
I've made several attempts but haven't had much luck. (so far)

well, the Richfield building was at 555 S Flower and the Tishman building at 615 S Flower, so...a few blocks SW of Flower and 6th?

Probably taken on or near Wilshire, 7th or 8th St. just west of the Harbor Freeway, looking east towards downtown. I doubt the pic was taken south of Olympic. 7th or 8th seems most likely. South of Wilshire, probably, since I don't see the Signal Oil building which was on Wilshire just west of the freeway, and was almost 20 stories.

In re: Eaton Wash.

Pardon this lengthy wall of text; but I found it quite interesting.

One does wonder why this photo was taken, but I agree, it has an intriguing quality about it.

I happened to be watching an episode of Get Smart last night and they used a close-up shot of the top of the Richfield building as a KAOS gathering place.

Been there several times with family.

I think it's Duke's now, a solid restaurant group with a bunch of restaurants in CA and Hawaii.

The Sea Lion restaurant suffered a few indignities over the years, among which:

LA Times, 8/9/1983.

Duke's is definitely on the same site as Malibu Sea Lion restaurant.
21150 Pacific Coast Highway.
