It would have been better had they used a more subtle stylized version of it that went more with the look of the building.

The sign is ridiculous when you really think about it. It's a third party advertisement to its core. The condo board should be getting minimum hundreds of thousands in rent for it. I'm assuming they aren't as I also suspect bylaws against third party advertisement would than kick in. It's win win for the Canadiens.

agreed.

At least it isn't Rogers or some other wretched telecom logo.

The whole "Canadien" branding for selling condos is ridiculous, but it seems to be working. For me, it is a deterrent. I would never buy or rent in TDC because of that. I find it vulgar. Of course, I'm not a fan of hockey or the Canadien, so in that respect I'm probably the exception to the rule.

I agree with you guys, I always thought that the logo on the building was tacky and out of place. What are the residents gaining from it? The building would simply look better without it. An outsider would probably think this is the organization's HQ. Either that or that the residents are somewhat related to the organization/the building is used to house people with specific needs and is sponsored by the Canadiens (similarily to Ronald McDonald Houses)

It was so they could market it to the Nicko999's of the city (before Subban left).

I wouldn't avoid the building solely because of it, but I think it's tacky. I can accept a corporate logo on an office building, but it looks dumb on a condo, especially when as WhipperSnapper pointed out, it's basically free advertising for a company.

If it wasn't right next door to the Bell Centre then it might seem a bit strange but given it's location it doesn't feel out of place. As for it being free advertising I doubt anybody in that building cares and a team like the Habs don't even need advertising. It's not as though that logo will sell anything other then the condo units in that building.

/\ Great stuff. It never ceases to amaze me how much dense, compact and spectacular the downtown core of Calgary is, and then how it drops abruptly to Sherbrooke-level urbanity. I can't think of any other exemple of such extreme contrast.

The inner city is building up quickly, but it still has a long way to go.

Jeez. What does it matter? It's a corporate logo on the top of a building which Cadillac Fairview charges big bucks for on any of their buildings. It's lost revenue that could go to lower fees if the condo isn't making anything from it. I think the majority of residents would warm up to caring if they realized this.

Love those Calgary aerials - give me a warm cozy feeling - ha.

Montreal & Halifax looking good too.
FWIW - I don't have any problem with the Habs logo on TDC.

Mississauga looks meh as ever.......the photos are fine, but nothing I enjoy, considering how the area around Mississauga's "downtown" is. In 10 years it might be a better place to live.....

The last Toronto photo makes me wonder how the new Courthouse will look in this view. I'm guessing it won't be very intriguingly designed, but it'll be surely interesting to see under construction so close to City Hall.
