Today

10. YC Condos (Toronto): 198m / 650ft

Decided to take this off my phone since the tower's verticality from Yonge made it more appropriate to do such;

If people have moved in then yes, this can be considered completed...but as far as I'm concerned, this is still under construction, albeit it's likely off the list by now. (I posted this because it was...I conform to the original post)

Mybad, although this list will be quite confusing in a few weeks if left as is.

Well i like it. It doesn't look very refined or polished but that stretch of Yonge isn't really suited to refined, polished, or understated designs imo. It's funky, vibrant, and playful which is quite appropriate. The main thing that detracts from it for me is that the size, shape and materials is too similar to its neighbour. Its neighbour should either be very different looking or they should be spaced apart more. If Karma was replaced by a building of about 100m it would have worked better. I love seeing highrises packed closely together, but more in terms of stretches of 50-100m buildings flanking 150-250m+ buildings. Layers.

David Staples: How Tony Franceschini and Stantec reached for the sky
DAVID STAPLES, EDMONTON JOURNAL

We’ve all got our eyes on the sky as the new Stantec skyscraper reaches ever-greater heights on its way to topping out at 69 storeys and 251 metres by the end of the year, making it Canada’s tallest building outside of Toronto.

Tony Franceschini, a key player at Stantec for four decades, takes special pride in the new Stantec Tower. It represents a pinnacle for Edmonton and for Stantec, the remarkable Edmonton company founded in 1954 that has become a global leader in design and engineering.

Making the building so tall was done with a purpose, Franceschini said. “It’s not like you’re showing off, but it’s more like you’re making a statement: We are here. We have arrived. We are a global company and the city should be proud, the company should be proud and the employees should be proud that we have that.”

Stantec doesn't look like a proud building to me. It looks like a tower value engineered to be as tall as possible and cost the least amount of money to build.

By the tone of that article it's an international showpiece.

I agree with Blackstar that it is definitely not a 10/10 tower, but the main reason why that article is so boisterous is because this is the most significant project in decades in a city that stalled development wise for a very long time.

This shot is impressive. But the blandness of the towers is astonishing.
A sea of meh.

^ One Bloor looks great in that shot, first time I've seen those wavy white lines coming down the building. It looks awesome.
