When I retire (in a few years) then I will probably relocate to a cheaper location south of Hamilton, Ontario and down size to a smaller, bungalow style detached home.

In any case, I am mostly interested in Halifax area developments and I am happy to see a building boom in the Halifax area, after years of stagnant growth. I hope that you won't actively oppose a stadium on the Wanderers Ground since I think it will be good for the Halifax area.
I am busy on more important matters.
I opposed Burnside for many years and that was a lost cause, even though I showed downtown Dartmouth produced more commercial taxes per acre than Burnside and that was without subsidies.
FOI is wonderful, secrecy is our greatest problem with poor journalism a close second. The proposed outpatient site in BLP is a giant piece of rock, yet somehow the media failed to see the extent and height of the rock !!
My daughter and her husband talk about moving to Hamilton, they need more space for the 1 year old. We were in TO in the Junction last week, home prices are crazy. Walked to Tims every day and took some photos of facades - no doubt soon to be replaced.
Consider cashing out, moving to metro and enjoying the fresh air.

Hamilton is a great place to live, in my opinion it is far better than Toronto, the people are friendlier and it is just big enough to have most amenities without being overwhelmed with traffic and crowds.

Prices are out of control in the GTA but down around the Niagara region prices are ok in some areas.

They said the same to us. He is a paramedic in downtown TO and she works in film & TV. For him that would be a long commute to a 12 hour shift, which often turns out to be longer than 12 hours.

^^^ This is incredible. It is really happening . I thought for sure that there would be opposition and it would be delayed to the point that it would never be built on the Wanderers Ground (although this is a logical location for such a stadium, in my opinion).

Thanks for the picture q12, and please continue to post pictures as it progresses. I wonder how long it will be before we see the stands? One question, has Regional Council already approved this use by SEA, or is it possible that only the turf upgrade has been approved?

I think it's turf approved, I believe the stadium should be approved officially first week of June. I really can't see how this won't get approval with the Premier League now official and no request for money from S|E|A. It's basically a no-brainer net benefit to the city.

It is interesting that David Beckham is trying to get an MLS team in Miami, however the rest of the story regarding owners trying to exhort money from city residents doesn't apply to the Halifax stadium. Also, I see no reason why a 25,000 stadium in Miami should cost $500 million. Such a costly stadium would never even be considered in Halifax, and it shouldn't be. The Columbus Crew Stadium was built for $28.5 million in 1999 and seats 20,000 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mapfre_Stadium

The article doesn't claim the stadium will cost USD500 million. The property is just USD 9 million. My guess is the price includes a franchise fee, a stadium, buying players, hiring staff, first year operational costs.
And then there is the reality of the game : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017...record-103-million-bid-forkylian-mbappe/
Watched the Rennes v Monaco game yesterday and I saw a fabulous player and eventually the broadcast showed a closed up and it was him. Within 5 minutes of seeing him I knew he was a very good player but did not realise he was only 18 and with a maturity well beyond his years.
In 1959 British players were all paid the same until George Eastham went to court and had the rule thrown out.

ok. That makes sense, that the stadium doesn't cost $500 million.

I was a big Montreal Expos fan and the article mentioned Jeffrey Loria, who helped run the Expos into the ground and pressured Miami into building an overpriced stadium, so the mention of Jeffrey Loria turned my stomach.

Yes, that is Mbappe. He is a product of a small Paris club and played outstanding in Champions League this year until the vets at Juve shut down the Monaco side. Its just a matter of time before he leaves Monaco for a CL contender.

First time I have seen him. He was on the far side of the screen and his first few touches caught my eye; a natural athlete and a cool, confident player. Nice if he doesn't bulk up. He'd be mad to go to Manu, RM & Barca will suit him and away from the EPL cloggers.

He had a great year in Ligue 1, but he'll likely end up in La Liga as you say. Doubtful he'll play in the EPL. That being said, Monaco may be trying to keep him as long as possible... as he's a big part of their L1 title.

Mbappe is going to be outstanding. Hope he definitely turns down United. Hate those Mancs.

Problem with either Barca or Real Madrid, is that I'm not sure he starts as an attacker. Maybe at Madrid, but he's not going to get started over Neymar, Suarez, or Messi in Barcelona.

Most fans of teams without United's records (every other English team) do.
