It's double track along the entirety of Hamilton so yeah, they'd have to add in 2 or even 3 more tracks for the station. I think the station would also include a bus loop for the relocated Stoney Creek Niagara GO bus stop and any future service.

Thing is that they already have to do that to allow their trains to access the yard. The level of train service on the line would not change, they would just be building a new station.

This is pretty cool.

The gantry crane building the Evergreen Line in Coquitlam is currently "walking accross" a steel box girder section to reach the next pre-cast section to build.

MONTREAL — Quebec’s pension fund manager, the Caisse de Dépôt et placements du Québec, confirmed to Global News that any new Train de l’Ouest project will include a rapid light rail transit system linking downtown Montreal to the Trudeau Airport.

”What is envisioned is one project that would eventually serve both the West Island of Montreal and also the Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport,” Macky Tall, Senior VP in charge of Infrastructures of the Caisse said.

Metrolinx, stated they will be twinning the track on the Markham line (5km) getting ready for express regional rail and electrification of the line. Kitchener Line is also a priority before the lakeshore line which carries 120,000 people a day.

Are they going to run the Montreal train all day and create a more suburban rail system of will this be strictly commuter rush-hour rail?

GO has been buying up track for years and now owns 75%, has Montreal been doing the same?

Ha! That would actually require them to invest money in it! Money which, as the provincial government knows, would be much better spent in a $4B interchange or a $700M expressway from one cornfield to another.

train de l'ouest will be a LRT that runs all day, no other commuter train expansion for Montréal. the LRT probably a ''tram-train'', there is also the train de l'est, LRT to Pie-IX, connecting the to SRB on Pie-IX. But the LRT tram train could also go on Pie-IX

the western side of the island of Montréal is not really populated, and not a lot of suburbs. The Montréal CMA is pretty small, only 4,300km². The future LRT network will stay inside the core, Island, Longueuil agglomeration - and maybe Laval.

the only thing for commuter rail I see is a doubling of the Deux-Montagnes line.

Jean-Talon will probably have a tram train in the near future, .

Why have the West Island served by LRT rather than electrified mainline commuter rail?

the link to the airport will be rapid transit and underground.

^ plus an LRT will be easier to build in the central part of the West Island (located between the Vaudreuil and Deux-Montagnes lines). By connecting with Trudeau they want a system similar to the Canada line that will also benefit the citizens of Pointe-Claire, DDO and Kirkland.

Well that explains why they would need to build another set of tracks, but not why they plan to use those new tracks for LRT trains rather than heavy rail trains. Unless they're planning to have street-running sections it would be better to have trains more like BART than to have an LRT. They're bigger and more spacious, and faster.

I'd rather see a spur from the Deux-Montagnes line built along the hydro corridor personally.

they only want 1 system, for the link to the airport and for the West-Island.

^ You're saying the only kind of trains capable of serving the airport are LRT trains for some reason?

Btw, here's the alignment for the second spur:

The AMT has long considered the Train de l’Ouest a priority, but now the CEO of the mass transit organization that oversees commuter rail service in the Montreal area won’t say whether it fears service west of Dorval will be jeopardized for the Montreal-Trudeau airport link.

”I can’t comment on that because it’s going to be the mandate of the Caisse de depot,” Nicolas Girard said.
rapid transit, not a commuter train , the LRT will likely be linked to the Métro network, with intermodal stations. Lionel-Groulx

Btw, here's the alignment for the second spur:

The area is already developed, there's no space to build at-ground. There's space overhead of main arteries like Sources though.
