I'm in the process of moving back to Montgomery around March, 2024. For the last four years I have lived in the Tampa Bay Area. I have been spending more time in Montgomery the last few months and have been impressed with the amount of growth I have seen.

Don't get me wrong the growth is nothing like what I have seen in the Tampa Bay Area, but it appears that Montgomery is moving in the right direction.

I am excited to be moving back to my hometown and cannot wait to see what the future holds for Montgomery.

It is, but many don't know much about it thanks to our media.

But this is a very interesting article from the Montgomery Advertiser about Montgomery Whitewater's international recognition and future developments. Unfortunately, its best details are buried deep inside of an article about an upcoming kayaking competition event...

And it looks like the anticipated onsite hotel for Montgomery Whitewater may be developed by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, according to the article. That would be a nice addition to their other two hotels in the Montgomery area.

Nice at all the updates in Montgomery. Courthouse construction kinda reminds me of Capital Complex district here in Jackson. Thanks for all updates. Does Alabama State still have their annual Thanksgiving parade?

No problem bystander1, and really thats great. I remember my uncle taking me and my cousins to the Turkey Day Parade every time I visited back in 2005 through 2008 (we would visit every Thanksgiving). I had loads of fun and I still remember the amazing food love Montgomery! Glad your community is growing and prospering!

Come back to visit. You'll be amazed at the changes since your last visit. It would be a lot faster to get from Jackson to Montgomery had the state of AL held up to its commitment to extend I-85 to the Mississippi line (it received federal funding at least 3 times to construct it since 1989) but I'll have to get into that fiasco at another time...

These pics show the progress of a new RSA office building being constructed a few block away from the new Statehouse along S. Ripley Street. It is hoped that this development will help to revitalize the Historic Centennial Hill neighborhood. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's home is directly across the street from this building.







The building to the right of the RSA building was built as a grocery store and an office in 1909 by an African-American name Victor Tulane.

The Centennial Hill Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places earlier this year.

^ I most definitely will and I had no idea about the interstate fiasco I guess they’re so focused on punishing women for existing than doing their jobs smh. Sorry for goingoff subject but our governors are strange when it comes to federal funding. Ms governor Reeves didn’t want to give school kids free breakfast/lunch during summer because he thought it was welfare funds. I believe they have a go it alone approach like what the Confederate states wanted state rights smh. Idk but I hope it gets completed one day and have a light rail from Dallas to Atlanta going thru Montgomery not B’ham.

When I see news of other mid sized cities building high rise towers, I get disappointed. I would love to see us build, at least, two or three 300ft towers to improve our skyline. Has anyone seen any proposals and renderings?
One could only dream of what it would look like... All I have/ get is AI pictures from Gemini. What's the deal? I know we had height restrictions but I thought they were lifted. If not, they should be... other cities our size have amazing skylines but ours is meh.

There are still height restrictions. However, they don't apply to state agencies, which is why you see the towers that Retirement Systems of Alabama built that rise above the capitol. It'd be nice to see some other tall buildings in downtown, but I don't know how I feel about them being much taller than the capitol.
