AFAIK this proposal has changed twice since this render. It started out as a 19-unit condo development, then it became 46 affordable "micro units". They hit a wall with the necessary variances for that and as of last month the developer was saying they'd redesigned the building to shrink the footprint down to 16 units, which apparently doesn't need a variance. I haven't seen an image of what that's supposed to look like.

I believe they also worked to preserve the 'Castle' building on the 15th street side of this building, which might have played a role. The Colony Square buildings are older and also built at this same angle. Campanile was built afterwards, and also reflect the same offset to the street.
Thanks. I've seen a picture of the area back in the day as a suburban edge city.

Yes! A new Chik-Fil-A on Peachtree in the center of Midtown!

Or is it a Dollar Tree on Spring?

It's not bad but not nearly as nice as the concept rendering they had shown.

Concept: an abstract idea; a general notion.

That goes without saying. The statement is still accurate.

I think the design is a little weird, in a good way. I think the design is a nice addition for Atlanta. I did like the initial version though, too. Glad it has retail. Parking… hall already know how I feel.

I hope the city and MARTA close down Irwin to through traffic and employees here have to take DeKalb -> Airline St if they come by car.

Why are we discussing this project? This isn't a high-rise. This IS a skyscraper forum after all. God the building heights recently suck.

Agree, this is what would be posted in the Birmingham section, seriously.

Perspective: this is in effect not a skyscraper forum. This is a development forum. The vast majority of development we talk about here does not qualify as skyscrapers, and it’s always been that way. So please stop acting like it’s an issue for people to post about development here.

Agreed - thank you for saying this - love seeing info about everything going on around the city - if this was a skyscraper only forum we'd be pretty bored around here -

Of course not. I was making a point. I've seen people complain in other threads about building heights across the city, not just the recent one specific to it. I've also seen people say that we shouldn't post about certain projects because this is a skycraper forum. Which, again, it's more about development than exclusively skycrapers.

If we can only talk about skyscrapers in Atlanta then we might as well shut this whole forum down.

For context, here is the older rendering: (all examples can be viewed on page 282 of this forum). I like the (what appears to be) higher ceilings on the bottom floor retail- it has more of a 'street' presence on the new rendering. I really loved those curved ribbed details on the old rendering- reminded me of some high end buildings along the high line in NYC

Would love to see it repurposed as a design for multi family housing in Atlanta. Not necessarily the architecture we have yet, but feels like it belongs.
