I believe the 59th street cam has been moved and is now at its best angle yet.

A Giant Looms in Our Midst

May 18, 2014

Quote:

I've been watching the construction of a tower from my living-room window. At first I didn't think much of it,
assuming it was just a run-of-the-mill office building. But when it soared past its neighbor — 731 Lexington Avenue
— I figured I should investigate.

It turns out this is 432 Park Avenue, and it's no run-of-the-mill building. By the time it's completed in 2015,
it will utterly dominate the Midtown skyline.

...I wonder what the reaction to the building will be, now that it's moving beyond the realm of real-estate
blogs and becoming impossible to ignore.

...One thing is certain, if you like tall buildings, this is a wonderful time to be living in New York. We may no longer
be the envy of the world, but the city hasn't seen this kind of building boom in my lifetime.

It's an unprecedented building for New York City! There's little doubt it. The roof will even surpass the 1WTCs, which is hard to imagine so soon after 1WTC is nearing competition. I don't think many New Yorkers are aware of what is being built there yet, even now.

Passing 731 Lex is significant this is where it starts to become an icon. You can now add it to the random NYC skyline silhouette.

No way this will be topped out in 6 days. They still have a one or two months before this is topped out.

I think this forum would really benefit from the creation of a sarcasm button...

I have no idea if its sarcasm thought text! An emoji would have helped make it more obvious. And seeing that the pace of which this building is being built is crazy, it wouldn't seem that insane to have it completed in a week.
