I thought that was supposed to be behind the Volkswagen dealer? There's two areas that have been or are being cleared on that end of Bishop.

I noticed that too last week. I don't think they ever reopened after the "Flooding in the basement" in the spring.

On the other hand, "The Chess Piece" cafe has opened up near the police station. Haven't been inside yet to check it out.

And all the fill has been cleared out for the new tower next to the legion (and the big crane is up too). I was surprised at how fast they got the last of that fill moved out. Next will be foundation digging I'm sure.

And in other news, does anyone know how Freddies Vacancy rates are? The young family below my condo were looking to sell, but they said the market is so bad here, they decided to sit for another year or so and hope things improve. It's basically a buyers market now from what they said. Hopefully we can get some knockoff effects from the pipeline project when (being positive) it happens.

Not going to happen any time soon. I though about puttng my house on the market but right now i would lose all the money in invested in my basement. You are right it is a buyers market right now

also not really sad to see 777 go

There's no questions about it being a "Buyers Market" but it is more segmented than anything. For instance the Condo, townhouse, garden home market in Fredericton is flooded and they are still putting more and more up. So if you are in that market there is no question your in competition and the buyer has the pick of the crop. the $300,000 + Market is a crap shoot as well, people are very hesitant in making a large purchase and from my experience it has been more of the out of towers who are purchasing in this segment. Having said all that the first time buyers price range of up to $200,000 for a single family home are moving fairly well more so in high demand areas (i.e.- SkyLine Acres, Fulton Heights, The Hill area).

The 777 was terrible and was shut down three separate times for major health violations. It will not be missed. Frankly I don't know how it stayed open as long as it did.

As for the housing market, there are a lot of houses for sale in the Terrance Street area and the subdivision it leads to. Seems like stuff that's priced well is still selling, but the place that was over $300,000 has been put up for sale twice and taken off the market both times.

Outside of a few really hot markets (like the bubble in Toronto), things are cooling down across the entire country.

Read in an article on the Gleaner site today that the traffic at the airport is up 9% over the first six months of this year compared to the same period in 2013.

Foundation work is starting on the new tower. Looks like there isn't going to be muhc of a basement since the forms are going up just below sidewalk level. The lack of basement/underground isn't too surprising since it is on the flood plain, but is that going to be enough to support all the floors they are building? Or will they be pounding in some supports to hold things in place around the forms they are building now?

Didn't Westpoint right next door spend days pounding numerous poles into the ground to hold the building in place?

"The company’s website says a one-way ticket from Fredericton to Toronto will cost $129.96, including the base fare and other taxes, fees and charges."

Not bad at all.

Noticed that the exterior signage has gone up (at least on the Regent Street side) for the new HomeSense store at the Corbett Centre

Also noted that the final roof trusses are now in place at the condo/apartment building under construction on Bowlen

Yesterday a memo was sent around to Kings Place Merchants that the parking garage renovation project has been re-evaluated and now they are going to conduct a full replacement of levels 5-6 and remove levels 7-8 with reconstruction of 7-8 possibly being considered in the future based on demand. The new completion date is now late 2014 - early 2015.
