Once Trump tops out, it'll just be this one and Burrard Gate to get excited about, but I'm going to die of old age before these 2 get going. Guess I'll just have to move out to Brentwood to see some action

Yes, yes, yes! Let's get this thing underway!

And why on earth 497 feet????? Surely they could round up to an even 500, put a cardboard box on top and pour some concrete on it.
Same thing with One Wall (491) and Shaw (489), all they needed was 1 more story and they'd all be 500 footers. It would just look better on paper anyway.

Because only skyscraper geeks care about petty things like the difference between 497 and 500 ft.

Yes but according to a recent poll, 99.99% of Skyscraper Page readers are skyscraper geeks! And that 3 feet might as well be the Grand Canyon!

Why? The CFL doesn't use metric. Golf courses don't use metric. Horse racing does not use metric. In baseball, the bases are 90 feet apart. Tell most people a new bldg. will be 151.5 meters high and they haven't the foggiest, tell them it's 500 feet high and the light goes on.

Speak for yourself. I have no idea how much 500 feet is, 150m however is easy to visualise. I'd say it's probably split 50/50 which one people prefer.

Awesome to see site prep on this one! Two major Bjarke Ingels towers UC in Canada at the same time!

Ever been to a Canucks game Glass? Program lists players height and weight, I don't see the metric system used there either, or on the Canucks web-site.

Back in the 70's, some goof minister thot it would promote trade & commerce if we converted to metric, even though 90% of our trade & commerce and tourism is with the USA, who still don't use the metric system.

Hmm, well maybe you've got a couple of years on the average fourmer here but metric is what I use (not to mention the rest of the world). Imperial doesn't make a lick of sense to me. Imperial is reserved for three things, my height/weight, pool temperatures and square footages of apartments (although I use metric a lot for that too).

I don't drive 33 miles per hour in 87 degree weather for furlongs at a time. And I certainly wouldn't drink a quart of milk or a fluid ounce of soda while doing it.

Well Canadian measurements are all over the place. Like in the example you brought up, distance. Height is technically distance, and you're right, I would measure it in feet. However, once distance gets longer, say for the height of a tower or how far away a store is, 650 feet or 3 miles means absolutely nothing to me. It makes sense though, considering I've never heard anyone talk about building height until I joined this forum, which uses metric, and highway signs show kilometres. We're all mixed up here in Canada.

As far as Canada converting to metric, I don't give a damn what the US does. Imperial is a completely nonsense form of measurement and I'm glad we joined the rest of the world. We shouldn't make our decisions based on what the States do.

Fair enough gang, we've all made our points, but I still want them to put a concrete covered box on top of Vancouver House and make it 152.5M and then I'll quietly be happy!

Seconded. Everyone everywhere should be forced to use metric along with military time, utc time, etc.

151.5 meters is allot more meaningful and can be easily converted manipulated etc.

Our toes and fingers come in denominations of 10s, so go metric makes sense.

That's got to be one of the stupidest comments I've ever seen here.
Forced? Whoa, harsh thoughts man. Maybe you should threaten to blow-up CFL stadiums if they don't change the field markings to metric.

wonder what they are building there. An office? But it's in an area that's going to be excavated?
