verbl...what about the multi colored lights under 37 downtown? If they are testing these lights out....I would think the lighting artist has already been given the go ahead.

True. But that is under the highway I just think that it would be a huge surprise if they left the lights that way on the Alamo, seeing how they do a lot for it like not casting shadows on it etc. You may be right also I have no clue thats just what I assumed.

What ever happened to this http://www.mysanantonio.com/business...o.35e79a8.html
The developments to the Rivercenter mall that I read about a while ago. On another forum I also saw that they were planning on putting up a ritz-carlton and a few 5 star restaurants as well as a very trendy bowling alley/ bar called lucky strike lanes. any new news on this or new things going on at The mall itself? I have no idea seeing as I do not live in SA at the moment but I think this would be an amazing thing for the downtown mall as well as our city.
If you want to see more about the mall developments just google rivercenter forums. The rendering look very very amazing

As far as I know it's still a go.

All plan phases were recently approved by the city council, a month or two ago. Phase I will begin early next year.

  • Phase I - Renovation of entrance and mall facade as well as addition of new terraces. Also, the addition of several five star restaurants.
  • Phase II - Restoration of old Joske's facade.
  • Phase III - High-rise hotel. Most likely Ritz -Carlton.

It would be nice if SA could get rid of the Dillards that's in the old Joske's building and attract a better department store downtown like Nordstrom or Neiman Marcus. The existing Dillards is quite shabby.

You know what'd be absolutely hilarious...if the new hotel ends up being taller than the Marriott

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I don't think you can or should say who an operator "most likely" would be when Phase III may not even happen. Hell, let's see see how Phase I turns out.

And when you say 5-star restaurants, according to who? I mean San Antonio only had 1 4-star restaurant (Le Reve) according to the Mobil Travel Guide.

From all indications I've heard and seen, phase III is most definitely a go on the part of Ashkenazy.

It's a figure of speech. Restaurants are not given a star rating before being built.

Well of course they're not, but just knowing how difficult it is to get that rating makes saying that make even less sense.

It means that the restaurants won't be casual chains or something of that nature. They'll be upscale, formal places that have the potential to earn the stars.

I changed the lighting on the second one to make the top of the penthouse show up better.
