Some great preservation news. The Bell Building, which GSU was going to demolish a few years back to create a parking lot , has been sitting abandoned. Now GSU plans to spend $30 million to renovate the 1907 building.

That is fantastic news
Good for GSU on making a decision for the benefit downtown.

See Atlanta? That wasn't so difficult, now was it?

This is really nice news.

1907 building restoration

This is really great news. There are alot of things I love about this city (I've been here 20 years. If I didn't like it I would have left), but the penchant for tearing down pre-1950 buildings is mind boggling. It might be worse than in any other US city I can think of. I'm very glad they're going to preserve this structure.

A little bit of action is starting to happen at 901 W.Peachtree. Cousins is building a 30 floor office building. Looks like a nice design but poorly represented/rendered on their site.

Please don't quote images in posts unless on a different page and absolutely necessary.

No, your post was fine... it's when people quote them and share multiple images again and again that we want to avoid.

Got it. I removed the screen shot to be sure. [OT]When quoting I delete pics since it seems redundant, cluttered and a waste of space to repeat them anyway.[/OT]

They're just cleaning the site up. Not sure what the immediate plan is, but it isn't related to construction. Site prep would be far more aggressive than what's happening there, and they wouldn't have put up the permanent fence or commissioned that mural on the wall if it was all about to be torn down.

At least the Toll Brothers project designers thought "outside of the box" a little, but Portman's project tower is just one more squatty office building that could of been so much more. At least give us some real building height if your going to just do average design work.

I wish we had the power to put a moratorium on mediocre designs for the sake of "infill".

Why couldn't JPX (lilli developer) get into the office development game and give it a try.
