Are you referring to the brick building adjacent to this monster? Or another building? If you are, I have a liking to it for it's simple design and use of brick, which is a rarity for tall commercial buildings in Canada in the days of modernism.

Yea, it does sound like a pretty neat transformation of that block.

No no, the one you're referring to is Hanover Place. That is directly to the north on Centre Street. I'm talking about the rest of the block to the west of Telus Sky, along 7 Avenue.

Oh, mybad. I know about as much about Calgary as Vancouver or Montreal. I'm liking how Telus is located right in that stretch of buildings thus far.

Does that steel put Stantec above BP and little old Edmonton above not only Calgary, but all of Canada outside of Toronto?

I love this building more an more, great shots Chad. I am curious as to why they chose white window frames on the sliding doors though.

Those two are such a beautiful addition to Edmonton. Excited to see if this springboards any further development of their downtown.

488 is everything YC isnt. Understated, crisp, and reasonably economical. Not a standout , but a solid addition. Spending more money on materials on the lower levels where it counts.

Never mind comparing YC to 488, look at the contrast in quality and design between it and Karma (2nd YC pic above)...

Regarding Telus vs. Van House, I'm on team Telus. Both are amazing but I like Telus' shape more. The protruding boxes work a little better as well. Stunning tower IMO.

I just find them to be very different. I mean, Telus Sky is significantly taller, mostly dark cladding, it's going to be outfitted with one of the largest public art displays in the hemisphere, it's mixed-use, and is going to have a significant public component in an extremely prominent area of the city. While Vancouver House is the most exciting top-heavy design Canada has ever seen, fully residential, white cladding, and will see a significant transformation around a previously unusable area around the foot of the bridges.

Obviously I prefer Telus Sky, cause I'm a size queen but also because of the impact it's going to have on the visibility of the city, architecturally and culturally speaking.

Vancouver House isn’t white clad that’s just the wrap on the metal cladding.
Colour is either aluminum or nickel.
