There was a lot of speculation that they were but nothing official. After the plans to piggyback the tanker contract onto American soil fell through many thought so were the plans for commercial. A lot of people thought they would eventually but no one knew for sure or how long it would take. I was pessimistic about it myself since we seem to be losing out on stuff lately.

I should have an update sometime this weekend. Have been out of town the past couple weeks and haven't talked to anyone. Last I heard they were shooting for the beginning of football season but you know how restaurant openings go down, never on time.

Ok a follow up: things are looking great in there now with the build and their hope is by October they'll be open but, as with all restaurant openings, that is tentative. With the 400-500 seat music venue in the back that should make that end of dauphin pretty happening. But for now it's still a work in progress. I'll keep it posted the more I hear. Also, TP Crockmier's looks very nice on the inside. Look for grand central to be a seated part of the restaurant during the week bc the kitchens are friggin' huge. Both of them. 1 upstairs/1 downstairs

There was an article in Mobile Bay Monthly that stated that the "green" space that the Baptist church made at the corner of broad and government will be a parking lot for the church. This sucks. Sometimes I do believe that churches can be a devastating force in urban areas. There are plenty of places for people to park and walk, especially on Sundays. Whatever.....what is one more ugly corner downtown.

It will do a lot for that part of Dauphin Street. i'm excited about Moes bbq.

I was wondering if anyone has heard anything new about the I-10 water street exit being removed. I thought this was going to happen and they had the money for it. Are they still going to do it?

Got a tour of TP Crockmeier's last night. Wow. If nothing else visit to admire the work they put into that building. Whatever you have in your mind from previous establishments, forget it. It's a 100% renovation. Even replaced the staircase with something that should be on a cruise ship. 2 massive kitchens and a very nice elevator added. Gonna be a nice addition to downtown. Opening in 3 weeks.

As for Moe's, a lot of work done and are still shooting for mid October. 1 manager told me they're hoping for late September. They took the old bowling lanes from Florida Bowl and made the tables and bars out of them. Will give it a unique look.

Also Hopjacks closed its doors last night supposedly because of some embezzlement from an accountant. Not sure if true but they did close. Would love a return of Picklefish but that's just personal wishful thinking. I'll post any news of future tenants when I hear them.

I haven't heard anything about the Water Street overpasses but it is scheduled for this year according to information on the MPO's website. Who knows?

You might or might not have noticed an uptick in rumors that a cruise line announcement was imminent. Perhaps this is the reason?

Nice to see that there is some attention. I'm convinced the reasons that they left Mobile were due to their own problems rather than the ones that Mobile provided; weren't the ships always filled to capacity?

No I don't have a link but he mentioned future economic opportunities during his interview with Bob Grip.That' s where I got that from.

I'm excited about Pita Pit... and Port, the new venue you are speaking of is at 360 Dauphin and is Catt Sirten's new Jazz club. I am not sure of their opening date (its name is Catt's Avalon 360)
