Seems like more of the lighting has been installed. I wonder if it will eventually wrap all the way around the building?

Thanks, I love it. We need more slim but tall buildings like this.

Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin Celebrates Opening in the Heart of Downtown Austin

Quote:
CHICAGO (February 3, 2023) – Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announced the grand opening of Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin, the highly anticipated 31-story hotel in the heart of downtown Austin, marking the second Hyatt Centric property in Texas. The property is located along Congress Avenue, walking distance from the Texas Capital, Lady Bird Lake, University of Texas campus and in the middle of the action within the vibrant arts and culture district at 721 Congress Avenue. Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin is home to restaurant Luminaire and bar Las Bis helmed by Chef Steve McHugh.
For a local experience, guests can discover museums, shops, restaurants, and music venues right outside the doorsteps of the property. Guests will find two of the city’s most historic buildings and destinations for entertainment and culture next door at the Paramount (est. 1915) and State (est. 1935) theaters. The hotel’s designers, Nelsen Partners (architecture) and UCO Studio (interiors), worked to capture the energy and spirit of Austin and these iconic venues into many areas throughout the property.

Nice view of the old Norwood “Tower” that is mostly overshadowed from other directions.

Also a good view of the CitizenM. I don't think I've seen a photo that puts it in context so well, but it really does fit nicely in that area.

That view from their rooftop patio looks like a different city. Major Chicago vibes.

And agreed, the Citizen M is great filler. The dark cladding provides some needed contrast.

That is Austin, though. There's nothing misleading about the photo. It's all happened really quickly, but the 2 decade plus downtown building boom has transformed the city. It is a big city downtown that's tall and dense. Massive office buildings, massive hotels, and massive residential towers. Supertalls! It's really quite remarkable, and I think the reality hasn't fully sunk in yet.

I can see some of that late 40s early 50s mid-century design in the facade there. It really is something different among our high rises, but it actually fits in the neighborhood perfectly and resembles a lot of Austin's early mid rise design from the late 40s and early 50s. It reminded me of the Vaughan Building.

we happen to stop by today on a walk to snoop around.! The upstairs terrace/bar is quite nice! Well situated and fun view to North as well. Also recommend the terrace bar at the "Stephen F. Austin" ( Sonesta)

Is that upstairs terrace/bar open to the public?

Since this one just completed, figured it'd be a good time to get a diagram made.

Quick question to anyone who knows, is there a slightly different window tint (or thinner lines) that runs down the center of this tower? In some pictures it almost looks like there's something there, but I can't find too many pictures online to prove it is part of the finished product.

You can see it more in the image below:

Excellent work! I think it's just the angles. If there is, it's too small of a difference to be seen in a diagram.

Thank you! I debated it, but ultimately included it in the diagram (very faintly in case I was wrong).

It’s different because the elevator core is directly behind those windows so they are just windows with the concrete core showing through them. They are the same tint though.
