OK! Any plans by the City to make a better use of those valuable square feet? Right now it looks pretty useless (requires regular mowing, with no upside)

There would be a massive public outcry if they developed that patch of Bayfront Park as there are very few parks in Miami. This space is used all the time as there are many events at Bayfront Park with the biggest being Ultra Music Festival.

^ it's the two cranes on the right in these pictures, not the visible building under construction. I belive that would be the 900 footer Okan Tower.

Yes, you are correct Also, those columns in the foreground are for the over-budget double decker highway/signature bridge that's under construction

Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences Miami Reaches Construction Milestone as Superstructure Passes the 50th Floor

https://floridayimby.com/2025/12/wal...0th-floor.html

Property Markets Group (PMG) has announced a major construction milestone for the Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences Miami at 300 Biscayne Boulevard. Miami’s first supertall tower has completed the concrete pour for its 50th level, marking the halfway point of vertical construction for the planned 100-story, 1,049-foot structure. Once completed, it will become the tallest residential building south of New York City. The tower is being designed by Sieger Suarez Architects in collaboration with Carlos Ott, with interiors by BAMO. The development team includes Property Markets Group and Greybrook Realty Partners, alongside Mohari Hospitality, S2 Development, and Hilton. John Moriarty & Associates is serving as the general contractor.

PMG’s PR team provided YIMBY with recent ground and aerial photos of construction progress. Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences Miami is rising at an average rate of one floor every 10 days. The tower is composed of nine offset glass cubes arranged in a spiraling vertical formation, producing a distinct silhouette within the Miami skyline. Four of the cubes are now visible as the superstructure continues to ascend. For context, the Vizcayne condominium towers directly across the street, rise 49 stories and 538 feet, illustrating the dramatic height difference the Waldorf Astoria will achieve once the full 100-story profile is complete.....................

I meant, would be nice to get some "park value" out of it, like walking paths, trees, park benches, picnic tables, maybe a dog area, etc. However it does make sense as a huge expanse of grass if it gets used for things like festivals and temporary events, so, yeah...
