Rosso Coffee will be one of the new tenants at NMC. They seem to be really targeting the east side of the inner-city with other relatively new locations in Inglewood, 17th ave and centre st(u/c), Arriva podium, and east side of Stephen Ave

New Photos Reveal Studio Bell Interiors

Quote:
Located on 4th Street SE, the 160,000-square-foot facility will combine the aforementioned galleries with a host of other activity spaces, including school classrooms, conservation and restoration workshops, three recording studios, acoustic and electronic sound labs, retail, and a 300-seat performance hall. Designed via a collaboration of Allied Works Architecture and Kasian, the structure is clad in a striking, gold-and-charcoal-coloured terracotta material which will form an impressive gateway into the city.

Impressive gateway into the city?

Huh? What? Isn't a gateway into a city located on the outskirts or at the airport unless there's been some teleport portal built near the NMC.

That must be an old pic. Isn't the cladding further along on the left side?

It was taken last evening...so unless there has been progress since then, what you see is what's there as of now. The cladding on the west side of the building definitely is lagging behind the east.

Can you guys believe that this was the original design that won the competition? Holy cow it looks better now.

I"m thrilled it turned out the way it did. That original design was atrocious.

My mistake. I think every time I've seen it in person I've been so fixated on the skybridge and the main building the rest just seemed finished. Also, you can't see the restored King Eddy in your pic which also disguises it better.

I still think it looks like a set of female hips with a nicely trimmed kitty and a golden tan.

Agreed. I think this might end up being Calgary's nicest and most architecturally interesting building.
