I agree but just like in music, I can say that I prefer rock alternative but if I say Mozart and Beethoven are just old crap and Queen of the Stone Age are just as good musicians, then hopefully someone will call me incompetent.

People can have different opinions about the same architecture. It's not like the only reason a person doesn't like Chicago or Paris is because of ignorance. I know every building in Paris and I'd prefer Vancouver and Toronto's skylines over Paris.

Very not cool to call someone ignorant just because they disagree with you.

Toronto is on another planet in terms of liveability. Yes Chicago has nice buildings.

If you say they're just old, then yes that's ignorance. If you actually listen to them and then critique them for their actual traits then that's not.

The Georgia canyon, couple gaps but it's getting more canyon-like:

Sounds familiar, I'll take your word for it. I was just following the GPS's directions trying to get on the freeway. Took these while I was parked at a red light. It was -28 that day so I didn't take any more pics, but I wish I could've. The view from Mt. Royal was incredible!

Sherbrooke Street looks great. I love when buildings come right up to the sidewalk like that. The Vancouver example has too many set-backs - but still impressive.

I'm really excited about the new towers soon going up on St-Antoine Ouest. With the Deloitte (133m), Canadiens Towers 1 and 2 (120m) and 750 Peel (120m), we're going to gain a brand new canyon. A new skyscraper canyon, doesn't happen everyday in this town.

What exactly do you mean by that? I've lived in Montreal, Halifax, London (UK), and Toronto. There wasn't that big of a difference going from one to the other in terms of 'liveability'. All 4 were pedestrian friendly with lots of amenities and things to do all in a compact area.

A good shot of the Yonge canyon looking south. This photo is a couple years old. Note L Tower under construction at the very end, left:
