My earlier post should have said that "I added more than 5 dozen proposals and under-construction" (not 3 dozen)… after I actually tried to count them. In addition to everything built, about 3 dozen of the towers in the render are under construction, including Canada's first two super-talls. Not too shabby.

At the bottom is the base photo (zoomed in) which I used to position the towers. I think we shot this in 2005 or 2006.

Nice! Though I think using more recent base photo would save you a lot of layers

....

Here's a perspective of Downtown Toronto from the Lake looking north toward Bloor Street:

Sweet new view steve! As for your "layers" comment, send me your Yorkville to the lake render and I'll just drag the required cladding on top

did you create the whole thing?

I've seen a couple models over the years that could be a starting base. They were different; not as crisp or precise.

Both renders are stunning Steve... but I ummm... didn't think you'd actually post that view from the west... takes deep breath, looks at little laptop screen with Photoshop icon, wonders if there's enough gas in the tank to clad the (superior) steveve render, looks out the window at the sunny day, decides to take dog for a walk.

Will check in tomorrow or no later than December 27th when (if) I move forward.. after you called my bluff.

Essentially. The most detailed model is the open data one provided by the City. However, you need a very powerful machine to run it, let alone piece it together. A few existing models are based off of those in that file, like the CN Tower and Rogers Centre. The rest were modelled manually, for that reason the infill may not be as accurate.

UrbanStrategies also has a very detailed model of the city based in Archicad.

Future skyline of Carling Avenue, between about Broadview and Fisher. It does not include massing for the dozen or so proposals further up the street at Preston and Carling, near Dow's Lake.

Many proposal but only one tower u/c at the moment as far as I know.

On the bottom-right, we have Claridge's proposal for Neilson Dairy and top-right Travelodge redevelopment.

On the top-left, we have the Westgate Shopping Centre redevelopment, with one tower u/c.

Three more individual towers on the bottom-left.

Toronto really needs another public observatory that can better show this growing girth to the skyline. There really is just the CN Tower. The city needs something like the Top of the Rock or John Hancock Center, a bit removed from the main core to give a good vantage point, while showing a view that includes the most iconic building itself, like the Sears Tower, Empire State Building, and the CN Tower. Something in Yorkville or College Park atop the towers already going up, or perhaps something off in Corktown or Regent Park.
