Thank you for having the same thoughts towards it as I do. It'll add a few more bodies to the neighbourhood, at least...?

I also agree that the design of this building is hideous and uninspired and does not suit the lot that it has been placed on. I agree with Greg re: the garages on the right side of the property. The driveways will be so steep as to be unusable in the wintertime, especially after an icestorm.

I can help you with the first request. There are some nice new areas like the seating at the food court and a lounge area near Sears...both which I didn't capture. I like the large "boardroom style" table in particular. But I have some nice empty hallway shots for you...

Nice! =)

Though I'm not really as picky as others which areas get captured on film. If I was in your position, I'd go crazy taking lots of pics everywhere in there! LOL

Even the new bus area would get it's time in the spotlight. XD

In a lot of malls it's against policy to take photographs of stores or the mall itself. I got hounded one day for taking a picture inside of Brunswick Square, i'm assuming McAllister has the same policy.

What they have done with both McAllister and Lancaster Malls is outstanding, to say the least.

This is nice. I'd like to see future mall refurbishments that look more like a downtown street with larger skylights (to get the outdoor feel) and a few coffee shops and restaurants with small patios extending into the hallway and mixed in among the clothing stores.

How is the Harbourfront condo looking these days? They should have a webcam set up!

Maybe we'll get to see some tower cranes back on the skyline this year.

I had a quick visit to Saint John and was really impressed. Solid urban fabric and some of the most awesome residential architecture I've seen. I'm a big fan of industrial cities and working class neighbourhoods so I would really like to go back and explore some more. Here are a few photos: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=183868

New Kent Build supply store

Has anyone heard when the new store will be built on the west side??
Irving has purchased all the land.
I was told it was to start this spring.
I don't see anything happening yet.

Thanks

Seniors Tower at Market Square

Although not quite as impressive as a tower crane, has anyone noticed the towering 12 storeys of scaffolding being put up around the seniors tower at Market Square? I've heard rumours that the building is undergoing a substantial multi-million dollar "stimulus" facelift but it doesn't look like we'll be able to see too much since the whole thing is covered in plastic tarps. Its kind of ghost-like all sheathed in white but it will be a dramatic unveiling when its done. Lots of activity in the uptown with this project, the Abbey and the Harbourfront condos.

I believe this would qualify as the tallest project underway in SJ?

If you're referring to the Kent's, unsure. Last I heard Irving were still mulling the idea over.

Actually the city has the plans posted on their website.. I seen the pdf file a few months ago. The renderings were great! They should still be there somewhere....

Finding anything on the city's website now that its been completely redesigned could be a challenge since its completely changed around (for the better!). If you can track down a link or pictures of the renderings of the tower that would be awesome. I'm anxious to see what the redesign looks like.

This won't happen because people do not like to buy a new suit that smells like french fries. Hence the development of "food halls". Mall developers try to keep these areas separate for that reason.
