For the people who do not visit the official website regularly, Emaar has updated the height of the Burj Dubai. As of 27 December, the Burj Dubai had 158 floors and is at 598.5 metres (1963.58 feet).
HOLD UP!
Is he talking about the floor height?
cause if not then this wont be the tallest tower in the world for very long, the 2000 ft chicago spire is already uc.

Everyone knows that the developers have been secretive about the final height all along. So how confident can we be in that 2034' figure for roof height now that the concrete core has reached its final height?

Is it possible they might still end up surprising us by building significantly taller than they are letting on or does the termination of the concrete core now basically "lock in" the final number of floors and the height of the spire?

No; it was always the steel structure that was to be capable of expansion in case of re-heightening becoming "necessary". The concrete structure would have been the same regardless.

It's also still almost finished. The spire won't take as long as the floors and when we see tall rods instead of horizontal lines then we'll know when the floors are finished. Also, since the building is almost finished the company can't keep the secret height "secret" anymore since people get interviewed, people sell info, blah blah blah.

Does anyone know what will be on the top floor? Will the penthouse be at the very top? If so, on what floor?

Happy New Year

Great pics again, Imre, thanks : ) It's amazing, that if all goes well, by the same day a year later the Burj will be all ready (at least from the outside). Imagine what fireworks there will be for the grand opening

The more glass gets put on this, the more I like it. It really looks like a quality building!

So the concrete floors stopped at level 158, and then how many steel floors will there be until the spire is put on? Just 4?

I think it will be the office for the corporate head of EMAAR. I would much rather talk about this building then see updates daily. SWFC is more interesting and so is the HCC.

But anyways, how many cars will the garage fit in the Burj Dubai?

I'd rather have both

There will be 206 floorplates in total, 44 mezzanine levels in the spire section.

They should've been in the shape of the Burj. Now that's going to be sweet
