Because Rogers owns the rights. Why would they let CBC broadcast if there isn't another game on Sportsnet?

Tracy Lane‏ @TreenasOil
Wonder if @hallsy09 will call and offer @zkassian9 a celebratory drink again. Still wonder why your not here?
Wow, I love Hall but the more and more stories (podcast with Whitney comes to mind) that come out and the comments from players are all leading to the same conclusion.....Hall was indeed a cancer in the room and a massive D bag. That trade is becoming more of a win by the day.

Many teams have won it all despite having caustic individuals in the dressing room. Of course they had competent management, coaching, d-cores and a true #1 goalie all at the same time.

I find it amusing that people still follow Tracy Lane. Does "she" still pretend that Garfield is a team insider? Do people still fall for this illusion that someone in Oilers management continuously leaks team info to his sugar baby?

I don't understand why they are making the games so late, so annoying! Seriously 8:30 home games?? WHY?!? And even the away game, they can't start at 7 in California? Come on....

7:30 starts in Anaheim.

Interesting that we have a 5:00 start here for Sunday's Game 3.

To the Oilers games in particular or for all playoff games? Because my understanding is that it's the latter. So I too don't understand why CBC shows all Canadian team playoffs except the Oilers.

Maybe this does not matter to most people. But the difference is that CBC is free TV across the land, plus being on CBC's HNIC has a greater prestige and sense of tradition.

My understanding is that Sportsnet bought the television rights for the NHL. There are a few exceptions where previous contractual arrangements gave TSN some game rights for Leafs and Jets games, which is why for the last two years you would see some NHL games on TSN. Sportsnet sublicenses some games to CBC. This'll explain it better:

Yah and I'm saying even push the Anaheim games back by half hour would be better.

I also don't like the fact we have two Sunday home games scheduled. Oilers never do good on Sundays, hope they can change that.

Anyways enough negativity out of me! I believe the Oil have better chances against the Ducks than they did with the Sharks. Martin Jones had a stellar year, Gibson will be easier to beat.

Just disappointed with 2 Sunday games for city activation and excitement.... ie. limited impact versus a thurs-sat.

Television factors into these dates and times quite a bit I assume.

I would assume so as well, but... later times in the West means practically zero viewership from the East who will all be asleep before puck drop. Stupidity, the West gets no love, or at least Alberta. Because actually, to me these time slots look like they are made to best suit California.

What do you guys think the NHL loves more? Crosby vs. Ovechkin? Or McDavid vs. Getzlaf? That's part of the reason we are getting later times too. And they know people out West will tune in and go to games in Edmonton so even though they're going to lose out on the Eastern viewership, they'll still get a lot out West.

I don't know about you guys but I love watching games in their entirety and not having to switch back and forth between games and potentially missing action.

The TV schedule doesn't bug me at all.

5-3 win!

Larsson with 2 goals - I hope that shuts up the Taylor Hall fans.
The Lucics and Kassians need to ramp up the nasty against this team though.

Other than Draisaitl and a couple others on the powerplay stepping up, I would call that game a bad one for the Oilers. But if they can beat the Ducks on a somewhat off day, they got this series in the bag.
