Absolutely, but for whatever reason the ownership group still seems to think it can compete with the Sedins + whomever for a chance to win the Cup, which is simply not going to happen with this current team or any possible iteration of this current team. Because the Sedins are a package deal they're essentially handicapping the Canucks at this point by not being able to trade them. Having players be career-long and franchises faces is great but if you don't win with them you don't win with them.
Something similar is happening in Detroit where the owner is getting older and just throwing whatever money he wants at the team so that they can try to win
now as opposed to doing a more natural rebuild.
