It's hard being a Canuck's fan. I hope they strip down the team and do a full rebuild. There was a post on facebook today stating that the club still believes they can reach a playoff spot. All the comments were pretty sarcastic. I hope they could tank this year so we can take a top 3 draft pick.

Reaching a playoff spot to be a four game sweep for a good team and leaving oneself another year further behind in rebuilding is probably stupid. But that's me.

True it is some dollars. Although another extra year of suckage after that probably doesn't equate to a lot of money though. The longer they ride with most of the current team the longer the rebuild will be.

Absolutely, but for whatever reason the ownership group still seems to think it can compete with the Sedins + whomever for a chance to win the Cup, which is simply not going to happen with this current team or any possible iteration of this current team. Because the Sedins are a package deal they're essentially handicapping the Canucks at this point by not being able to trade them. Having players be career-long and franchises faces is great but if you don't win with them you don't win with them.

Something similar is happening in Detroit where the owner is getting older and just throwing whatever money he wants at the team so that they can try to win now as opposed to doing a more natural rebuild.

The Sedins have been nothing but great for Vancouver. Unfortunately it seems like the Canucks are going to end up getting nothing for them in the end. Which means less draft picks to work with and a longer rebuild period. But I don't hold a grudge against the Sedins. They have played great and been great for a long time. A little bit of luck along the way and Vancouver might have won a Stanley Cup with them. Which is little solace, but it is tough to win a Stanley Cup. It really is. Anyone deluding themselves thinking there isn't a lot of luck involved in winning it in a league with so much parity is not really being that rational. The best you can hope is to be a top-ten team in the league, peak at the right time and have a little luck in the playoffs. With all that going for you, it is still probably only a 15-20% chance to win the cup.

Just ask most of the President's Trophy winners how that goes.

I believe the Canucks should trade the Sedins. Like you stated above I don't know if they will. They are really rooted in the community and have with the team from day one. However if they did trade them it would make for some good draft pics and top prospects. The window is short for trading the Sedins I think they are 36 years old now. I understand why they woulding trade them but I think for the future of the team they should.

No one would give much for two 36-year olds. The timeframe for payoff is way too short. Who would have a couple of first rounds and a third round and a couple of roll players for that? Who realistically needs that for a shot at the cup? The timeline for trading the Sedins for some return value was at least two years ago and more likely four. Unfortunately for Vancouver and fortunately for the rest of the Pacific Vancouver is going to lose the Sedins for next to nothing or nothing when they are forced to not resign them because they aren't worth ten million of cap between the two of them. Ask Edmonton how much value is out there for forwards and even young ones which the Sedins are not.

Typical shut down grinding performance by the Habs. Carey Price get his 250th win.

Indeed. Vancouver's effectively lost the window on trading the Sedins, which they ideally should have done between 2011-2013 when there was still value to having them together under the cap. With the way the game is going with speed and youth the Sedins effective value in the NHL is decreasing daily. Vancouver's going to end up getting nothing in return for them and have to actually rebuild from the bottom after a few years of being really bad.

I'm sure glad Sportsnet had a zero minute pregame show for the Vancouver/Winnepeg game tonight. Instead they showed a half hour of Toronto Blue Jays Leafs and Raptors news. We love that.

16 seasons, almost 2200 games played, closing in on 2000 points scored I think Vancouver has gotten far more than they could ever have expected to have gotten from Daniel and Henrik. I hope they can finish their careers as Canucks if that's what they want, they've earned it.

Sportsnet is so predictable and generic. The between period interviews are pretty much pointless... "So what do you have to do come back in the third? - We gotta work harder and win those puck battles..." They'd be better off showing music videos between periods. A little Thompson Twins, Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Go Canucks!

Incredible game by the Habs! Basically this is pretty close to what a perfect game looks like.
Jeff Petry played out of his mind in Markov's absence.

When you get 13 shots on Price, your chances of winning are not too great.

On pace for 118 pts but still 5th overall in the league.

This isn't a Sportsnet problem so much as it is a general sports interview problem.

I am always ready for the Sens to collapse but they seem to keep finding ways to win close games. Still a negative goal differential. It seems if they keep the game close, they are in a position to win. Still in 2nd place in the division not that far behind a pretty hot Habs team. This despite the Anderson situation. Winning against the Black Hawks last night who put a big push late in the game and still came up short is a big statement game, yet I still don't feel a great deal of confidence that they can keep this up.

Winning but still very nervous.

Gene Principe does a pretty good job of keeping things interesting on Oiler broadcasts
His puns kill me every time, plus had a pretty heart warming piece with Patrick Maroon after the Oil beat the Blues on Monday

You need to start playing between-period-interview bingo. Just fill out a card with the twenty-five cliches that are always said. First one to finish a row gets a free drink from the other players.
