The building looks great and all, and it makes for a great gateway building coming off the Cambie Street Bridge, but the plain glass is so abrupt right next to the copper glazing, it makes this building look unfinished.

Awesome, thanks.
I really like the finned podium on the BC Place side.
Does that podium (which is public ballroom areas) have clearer / more transparent glass than the hotel rooms (fritted)?
The setback / recess on the Pacific Boulevard side adds visual interest - especially with the curved glass on the corners.

The temporary steps and the concourse around gate G were open today so I was able to get in and see some areas not normally easy to see.

Great update, mcminsen.

I wonder if that greenish padding on the wall facing the stadium is sound insulation.

What's with that weird metal siding. It looks like the crap they put up for the new pacific centre sign. It's like what cheap aluminum sheds are made out of

This siding looks like it's left over from the Pacific Centre sign.
Hopefully the entire façade facing the stadium concourse won't be clad in that siding.

I'll assume that these windows will have a restaurant patio out front.
Looks a bit odd / old fashioned, otherwise. Nowadays you'd expect floor to ceiling folding doors.
But then again, I don't see a doorway.

Umm, I hope they know what they are building, as in some photos I don't even know what the heck I am looking at?

Not impressed by the details of this building so far...

it kinda looks like a pub?

sort of reminded of dublin crossing at marine gateway

www.vancitybuzz.com

overall it looks ok, will really bring some interest to the area at night. I imagine when games are on the area will be quite buzzing. Having easy walkable access to the casino will be great. The edgewater is so hard to access, I am sure a lot of people don't even bother to try. I went about twice there, it's nice enough but parking and the long walk to it really wasn't appealing.

Yeah, it does look like a pub or a French bistro
- I guess they're using "modern" materials to avoid the clash of architectural styles seen at the Dublin Gate Pub at Central on Main St.

PS - the taller tower is visible from Robson Street.

Pic by me from a few days ago.

The top of the hotel tower is covered in the orange tarp.
