Wow finally, I think the plan was to build an off ramp off route 11 to meet up here and get rid of the ones by the best western and comfort inn. This was discussed quite a while back maybe 2 years now, but it never came to be, it would make things SO much better if it did happen.

If I'm not mistaken the land behind the hotel, and houses is currently inaccessible. This is possibly the new access point for the land

A bit of an update on the request for rezoning along the south side of Filles de Jesus (across the street from Lawton's and Sobey's).

I watched the portion of the telecast of the Moncton city council meeting that pertained to this rezoning request. The plans are not for a single commercial strip in this location. Rather, the request is designed to accommodate two standalone commercial buildings with a provision for a third building down the road, at some point in the future.

This is a crappy screen capture from the video telecast showing the area in question:

The two buildings in question are to the left along the south side of Filles de Jesus. The one closest to Elmwood appears to have a drive-thru so presumably it is a coffee shop or a fast food joint. The second building is more non descript and could be anything.

In any event, the rezoning was approved with the understanding that ground will be broken in the next two years.

In summary, it appears that the following is planned for this Sobey's development:
- an NBLC adjoining the north side of the Sobey's store.
- a drive-thru restaurant/coffee shop on the south side of Filles de Jesus
- a second commercial building along the south side of Filles de Jesus.

I don't think they could add anymore then the 3 buildings anywayI was looking up on SNB's site as one does to find out the zoning type, and that green space is zoned for a Road from Fille de Jessus to Queen Mary Road. I am thinking more, and more that they are trying to expand the commercial in the area around Sobeys to stop people from going to the new Superstore that is suposed to be built further up passed the TCH In business tho if all goes well Superstore will be able to have lower prices then Sobeys, and be able to stay in the game.

To be clear, the zoning has not been approved. There is a process it has to go through, and this is the beginning of that process.

More news on the possible residential complex attached to (endowment lands) l'Université de Moncton.

Quote:
'' Le projet de construction d’un complexe domiciliaire sur des terrains loués et gérés par UdeM-Développement Inc avance à grands pas. Le constructeur a demandé au Comité consultatif du complexe domiciliaire (CCCD) de l'ABPPRUM de suggérer un nom pour ce complexe domiciliaire qui comprendra deux foyers de soins et un immeuble à appartements. ''
Translated : The project, that should consist of two nursing homes and an appartment building, is moving along quite well. The builders have asked the advisory committee for a possible name for the complex.

Meanwhile, I'd like to see some renders of the project.

So, time to choose a name...

The Transcript has more information regarding the rezoning request by Sobeys.

The three new buildings would be on the south side of the property, where St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church once stood.

Just an update. The largest of the 4-5 construction projects in the Caledonia Industrial Park (on Frenette) appears to be for Fastfrate. It appears to be a large terminal complex with three separate buildings.

Judging from your viewpoint, standing on a fire truck, and given the care you took to snip out the identity of those firemen in the foreground, I'm going out on a limb here that you're a firefighter yourself. The fact that you referred to the firehouse by name (Fire Station #1) is also a clue.

Just call me Sherlock.......

It's been Rumored that the Tenants for the Elmwood Dr. Site just past the highway have mostly been filled Being Superstore, Elmwood HH, Superstore gas bar, Tim Horton, or Starbucks, and an A&W The location between the "A&W, and Superstore would be a 10 unit shopping strip, and they stated a possibility of a restaurant, and Pharmacy with Doctors offices.

All buildings would be single level. But with the property still listed for sale By Collier International I'm not sure if any of this would happen at all.

I'd like to see the Residential area expand in that area, and all Industrial to be at the North-East of Highway 2, and Elmwood, and the old Mixed use land at the South-East corner be turned into residential space only with New on, and off ramps from/too Highway 2, and Elmwood Drive.

Just noticed some site work behind this house on McLaughlin. Any idea what is going there? There's a fence around the site and some excavating has been done

Not 100% Certain on it but think it's another Apartment building like the one on the lot next door to the house.
