Oh, Stitched, not switched. I am using dialup at the moment and couldn't figure out what you meant by switched until the picture downloaded far enough. I couldn't see the stich line until about halfway down the pic.

Thanks for stitching them together.

They are really making some progress, it is going to be interesting to see what it looks like by Christmas.

From what I remember, Saca originally bid around $1.5 million for the parcel a couple of years ago. Then someone protested that it didn't meet the minimum bid so it came up for sale again later. At that point, Saca was outbid and someone else ended up with the winning bid of over $3 million. Shortly after that happened, they (I can't remember if it was Caltrans or the City) decided not to sell until they knew what the plan was for putting a deck over I-5.

I was driving south on I-5 thru downtown and I could see the pile driver working
hard... I'm sure there is lots of other activity also. For all those who can't check
it out during the week you should make the trek to see the magnitude of
what a large scale project this is... also the parking is free on the street.

I didn't realize that I said switched until you brought it to my attention. The grammar and spelling police are really going to get me for that!

IIRC, the city took this block over via E.D because they had 'plans' for it.

Stakes placed for where a few of the 2400 piles will be driven into the ground.

Thanks for the pictures, innov8. We must have just missed each other. I was watching from the L Str. garage, both before and after your shots.

My wife says they are pounding away today. All she hears is "Boom!" "Boom!" "Boom!" from her office.

As I was making my way to do a U turn from the river cats game (awesome game, 5 run 2 out rally in the 9th) the site still had activity as they were still pile driving, at 10:15pm! I guess they want this project done quick!

I walked down to the Towers site today and made an observation.

I counted the number of hits it took to drive a 80 foot pile into the ground...
the one I watched and counted took 393 hits.

Assuming every pile at the site is the same length and also took the same
number of hits to drive it into the ground the total number of hits would be.

393 hits x 2400 piles = 943200 total hits
