Cool A trio of shots

Hey all,

i'm new to this forum, but i thought i'd jump right in and contribute some pics i took of S.A.'s skyline this past Thanksgiving weekend. I'll try to get some higher-quality pics in the near future.

I could almost cry the Grand Hyatt makes such a difference on the skyline. That first shot....man all three...
And if my eyes aren't deceiving me, I'd have to say the mechanical penthouse is nearly as tall, if not as tall, as the pyramids on the Marriott.

I can't speak for everyone, but for myself, I don't care that it isn't the colorful tower. It's done more than I thought it was gonna do, and I love it.

AustinSloanie's pic shows that the roof of the Hyatt is in the 380' range. It shows the mechanical penthouse as being around 446'. Also the pyramids do line up with the mechanical penthouse, so we could say the pyramids are also around 446'. The spires on the Marriott are between 462' and 494'. The roof of the Marriott looks to be slightly higher than 396'. This is all based off of Tower of the Americas, which in his picture is level and on the same plane with the Marriott and Grand Hyatt.

How can that be accurate going by that photo? Some of the buildings are further back, perception making them look shorter.

Using the pic by Austins Sloaine might be more accurate.

Tower of the Americas and the Marriott and the Hyatt are all in the background on the same plane in the photo I used. I'm not talking about the Weston Centre or Tower Life which are in the foreground. Those wouldn't be accurate because they are much closer to the camera than ToA. I know that I extended the lines over the Weston Centre, but those lines aren't meant to measure the Weston Centre. Those lines are strictly for ToA, the Marriott, and the Grand Hyatt.

Close-up of Tower/Hyatt/Marriot

hey guys,

here's a zoom shot i took of the hotels/ToA from the Trinity Univ. vantage point. I think you guys are right: the top of Hyatt's mech. penthouse is just about even with the pyramids on the Marriott, no??

I drive by the Marriott and Grand Hyatt everyday now and there's no doubt that the penthouse is a little taller than the roof of the Marriott but not taller than the pyramid structure. I try to take a good glance as I drive by and have come to the same conclusion everytime.

Hmm, well I guess from a distance it seems nearly as tall. Can't complain about that though

If the mech. penthouse is indeed 424', and at 424' is very close to the height of the pyramids on the Marriott, and we know that the Weston Centre is supposedly 20' higher than the Hyatt...then the Weston Centre must be as tall or taller than the pyramids, which would make it visually appear to be the tallest building or #2 structure.

It's hard to get a visual perspective because they're so far from eachother. Either way, our skyline is filling in a little bit at a time so cheers!

Frost just leases a majority of space in that building which is why it has its name on top. Frost had nothing to do with the design or building of that building. This is like a regional urban high rise myth now. lol
