I inquired about the new Polytech, they only mentioned the carpentry building was first, but not when.

The Skilled Trades and Technology will be the first new building and is scheduled to be completed in 2029. There are two more new buildings to be constructed on Innovation Place along Preston Avenue and two existing buildings there to be renovated for SaskPoly use. So a total of 5 buildings for SaskPoly in the east / northeast section of Innovation place.

Thanks for the College Drive post, Echoes. I was wondering about that one. I didn't know it was wood frame. Is the first floor concrete? Patio on top of two more floors? That's a fine addition to core density. And I like that drive as it opens to downtown. Oh, how we'll miss the Spire. Edit: Already approved 12 story condo by Whoevertheyare at the top of the University Bridge wouldn't hurt, either. They should build it as rentals and watch it fill up:>)

Yes ground floor is concrete floor, walls and ceiling. Second floor is concrete floor, wood walls and mass timber ceiling. Then it's wood and mass timber the rest of the way up.

Top of the university bridge is going to be units for sale I believe, not rentals.

Still in development, I heard that presales were supposed to start this fall. Not sure if that's still in the case or not. Most likely being built by Wright

Thanks Leadly! This bus idea might actually work! Heated shelters and gps signs of bus times are crucial and look to be in place in the pic. Not fighting every ahole on the street might even add to more bus driver job satisfaction.

The final hope would be that more density, at least in the core, could spring up near stops. I see much potential in the pic posted.

I also heard that the Pearse builders have a lot beside their 6fl office redevelopment they'd like to develop. Could make for some good convenient housing. I motion for 18 floors. They could work as rentals for students and workers at the UofS, (the new library and city hall in walking distance) as the bus is a fast direct link. At that height, the city is always beautiful.

This would also shift living, and pressure onto the city to show their cards on their stagnated plans to redevelop the north DT lands, that they've already spend over a million dollars analyzing and have turned down competent developers interested in following their alleged vision of more core density.

Warman cuts ribbon for MNP Arena ice surface

Twenty years after plans were first laid for a multi-purpose recreational complex, the City of Warman has officially opened the final phase of the project.

City officials, along with representatives of MNP LLP Corporation, were all smiles on Wednesday, October 8 as they snipped the ribbon to officially open MNP Arena, the second ice surface in the Warman Home Centre Communiplex (WHCC).

Rental townhouse project proposed for Warman

A proposed 150-unit rental townhouse project in Warman’s Southlands neighbourhood could help alleviate the housing crunch in the region.

The project, which still needs to be approved by Warman City Council, is proposed for a parcel of land on the east side of Industrial Road between Haichert Street and Eldorado Street. It would be directly south of the newly-constructed Warman Childcare Centre and Warman Ultimate Cheerleading gymnasium.

The project envisions a total of 150 multi-residential units constructed in three phases. Each phase would consist of five buildings, with ten apartment units per building.

Saskatoon still opposes solar community, even if it's outside city limits

Six years after Saskatoon city council rejected a solar-powered community, the city's opposition to the proposed development lives on.

But this time, the neighbourhood is being planned outside city limits, in the Rural Municipality of Corman Park.

The RM was seeking approval Thursday from a district planning commission to move forward with the Solair community by Arbutus Properties, but an objection by the City of Saskatoon stalled the process.

Regardless if the top floor patio is public or not, we should maximize all buildings to include great views and patios to enjoy our beautiful river.

Even eating at OEB the other day, love to see more riverviews via public restos, etc maximized - which have been missing for too many decades!

Couldn't agree more!

Here we have this picturesque river and river valley, and we have no real elevated vantage points in the Meewasin Valley from which to enjoy a (coffeehouse) coffee or restaurant meal while taking in the vista.

Maybe, just maybe, someone will consider incorporating such an experience into their riverside development going forward. Such a coffeehouse or restaurant would be a great place to take out-of-town guests, too, to show off the river valley.
