Wow, those postcards are quite amateur. A nice and admirable attempt, but they should at least learn to spell "contrasts" right if they strive to present themselves as a world city.

The second one and last one look really crappy. I could do something like that in Photoshop.

The picture with the Sears Tower just makes the people who made the card seem silly and it shows that he or she (or they) have no idea of how to measure. It's also a sign that whoever made the card is trying to cheat and make the Sears Tower look smaller than the Petronas.

HA! Cantrasts!?

That's exactly what I was thinking, total BS. They downsized the Sears Tower to make it appear shorter than it is.

Yeah, Sears doesn't really get any justice. If Sears was built in Asia it would be touted as 'bigger' than even taipei 101 and would never recieve such bs injustice. Fortunately, the legitimacy of our society in Chicago is not based on braggin' rights long spear topped towers made by abused and underpaid labor...

That really ticked me off seeing Sears downsized like that. They knocked off a good 100 feet and made it look retarded, while all the other buildings look atleast sub-normal? This is a marketing ploy, but what I don't understand is why downsize a building compared to the Burj when Burj is tall enough to sell itself already?

Well, would you be upset if Burj was shown to be shorter than The Chicago Spire in a future "Chicago feels the need to promote its image" postcard?

Its simply not professional.

They should seriously consider using SSP diagrams. It's a win-win situation - they get professional-looking, attractive and correct postcards while the illustrators here get a couple hundred bucks each. That type of money should be no problem when you are developing a 10 billion+ project, but yields greatly improved publicity and image.

Yep, shortening Sears on there was definitely an ignorance-based fuckup, not a deliberate underplaying of a competitor. When you're beating out other contenders by about twice in height, there is no need to "cut down" your opponent by some 50 meters.

Steel

Hi guys, have'nt posted in a while. Just wondering about the steel section, we see the out side steel being done, do you think it will have a stronger steel core where the elevators will be ? I would like to see them have the elevators reach the 189th floor.

Do you think Nakheel down sized the Al Burj to 1050 meters just to play head games with Emaar ?
