As soon as I saw it, my mind registered "Brossard" and half a second later, I looked to the upper left-hand corner to have my suspicion confirmed.

Gimme a "T"! Gimme an "A"! Gimme a "C"! Gimme a "K"! Gimme a "Y"! What does that spell?!?

Snob mode on

"New money' for the Brossard and Toronto examples. For most municipalities single family homes are not subject to any design standards/requirements unless you are in a Heritage area. I doubt Brossard near the 10/30 counts.

A few years ago, we were heading on a family vacation to Vermont/NH etc and had to do a swing by the Brossard McMansions. Believe me that park across the street is not used and is just a box checking situation for parkland.

Though Gaudy this actually looks well built compared to crap like this in Calgary:

In fact, I'd welcome this mansion since it actually uses real materials like brick and stone rather than pink / peach stucco and foam cornices.

Yeah. It’s tacky but not cheap. There’s a Reddit sub (great, BTW) called ATBGE (Awful Taste But Great Execution). That mansion is a good example.

I agree that it looks well-built, and at least it's surrounded by greenery, but it's utterly out of place in its location, and that statue is vomitous schlock. It's only fair of me to mention that this nabe is infested with noveau riche McMansions (like almost all of North York), but most are more tasteful than this thing, if McMansions can be termed tasteful. Very few modern phenomena enrage me quite as much as the unconscionably wasteful, hedonistic practice of demolishing eminently livable houses and rebuilding them, particularly in an economic climate such as ours, where regular people cannot afford housing.

Florida's Queen of Versailles belongs in that house.

Coming soon to TLC/ Discovery's revolving carnival freakshow.

I remember seeing her on Flipping Out with Jeff Lewis and the sugar daddy husband had built the most pathetic 80's basement bathroom in this 'luxury' mansion out of leftover construction materials and Jeff couldn't take it and ended up not taking them on as clients.

I had to wait some two+ hours for my girlfriend in a tiny town where Subway was pretty much the only option, so...

A few days earlier, I also had to wait in downtown Trois-Rivières and indeed picked a coffee shop to settle with my laptop and do a bit of office work while waiting on my gf, so you guessed right it's what I'll typically favor, unless a chain is the only thing in town.

^she reminds me of the once-famous (in Ottawa, at least) Marlen Cowpland (wife of Michael, who founded Corel).

The Kengo Kuma tower going up in Vancouver is an eyesore. Ungainly and the whole thing has weird cladding that makes it look like it is moulting:

Ugh, I remember watching the feature documentary on that odious, vacant creature and her horrible husband (who threatened to fire employees who voted for Obama). They were building the largest house in the U.S., but ran out of money.

Here is nearby community hub and gathering place

The streets are fairly narrow which is good but I would think they are quite narrow in the middle of winter.

I also wonder if the Van Gogh painting is a macaroni noodle recreation of the original?

Curious to see how this turns out when completed. I agree right now it appears to be moulting. Could turn out alright when finished. I mean who would have thought this building in China would have turned out so nice since it was a circumcised penis during construction:

Speaking of 'moulting', this version of the Mirvish Gehry towers looked like it had that going on. Or maybe psoriasis.
