I especially like the winding path idea like the one from Millenium Park to Maggie Daley Park.

This part could be achieved without enormous amounts of money needed.

the beach + fountain feature (is that what that is?) would be a real hit with the kiddos. I'm lucky to live a block from Crown fountain for my toddler to go splash around in, weather permitting...

There are finally pending permits for the Invest South/West project, Thrive Exchange (7905 S Exchange). 6 stories, 43 units, no on-site parking but Metra will build an adjacent parking lot. It's unfortunate that most of the Invest South/West projects didn't pencil out, I saw that the site for the Bronzeville one on 47th St is being sold on ChiBlockBuilder.

* FRWIC the model here seems to be a bit more modest than the preliminary renders of the landbridge that have been put forth as part of the LSD/Oak Street redevelopment. I think there should be a decent chance of the LSD/Oak/Michigan Ave interchange looking radically different in the next 5 years.

* I love the idea of a complete refurbishing of Water Tower Place and giving it a new skin.

* I don't much like the idea of reimagining Jane Byrne Plaza. It is basically fine and dignified as is. Put some different pavers on the streets immediately around the square and it's good to go.

It's a bit frustrating how long the bridge is for such a short physical distance. I get the need to make it accessible, but the addition of some stairs would also make it much more efficient for a lot of people (e.g. the bridge across LSD just north of North ave. has both a ramp and stairs).

Yes, as inexpensively and quickly as the Lakefront Trail viaduct by Navy Pier was built.

Over IDOT-controlled Pointe DuSable Lake Shore Drive, yet.

2600 N Clark Update

Should be great to see a density bump both people and height related on the street. That street has such a great opportunity to be something like you'd see in NYC if they'd replaced more of the 1 story commercial buildings with 5+ story ones.
There was a meeting on this tonight. Project seems to have grown. I have some (admittedly low res) photos:

Low parking ratio, affordable units on-site, massing is entirely appropriate for the area... I assume the neighbors were freaking out?

And the fenestration proportions of a 90s-era Oak Brook office building. (As perceived from that rendering, anyway.)

Nice article on a really lovely new residence designed by Booth Hansen:

Is this through Michelle Smith’s ward? Did they say when they plan to start demo? I have a hunch that a lot of that chunk of buildings (if not the whole chunk) is a 20s-era terra cotta building behind the drywall and 70s mansard roof. You can see it on the N alley side:

If this is true, I’d love to see them do what they are planning to do with the Dinkel’s on Lincoln (reincorporating the facade onto the new apartment block).

I actually really like the tiered massing of the proposed design. I’ve been waiting for a neighborhood infill building of this height to step away from the street like this. A little more finesse and fineness in the details would make this is a nice addition to this corner.

Unfortunately, I've heard Chase will close the lower level of this plaza to public access.

They want to be applauded for keeping jobs in the Loop, but this would be an incredible slap in the face to the city and the many Loop workers who have enjoyed this plaza on lunch breaks for years.
