This tower is JPMC's gift to Gotham. I look forward to Citadel's (and Blackstone's?) gifts too. Dimon, Griffen, (and Swarzman) are like the Three Wisemen.

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon hosts birthday bash for King Charles III at bank’s NYC headquarters

By Taylor Herzlich
Nov. 21, 2025

Quote:
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon hosted an extravagant party to celebrate King Charles’ 77th birthday on Thursday in the bank’s shiny new Manhattan skyscraper.

It was an all-out birthday bash – what Brits might call a bit of a “knees-up” – complete with a huge projection of the Union Jack on the side of JPMorgan’s new $3 billion headquarters.

.....Members of Parliament and British nobles wearing kilts chatted with reality TV stars like Ubah Hassan from “The Real Housewives of New York City” and Mary Holland Nader from “Love Thy Nader,” The Journal reported.
Quote:
A major history buff, Dimon nodded to JPMorgan’s British ties during his speech.

Founder J. Pierpont Morgan came from a family of English merchants, and his son, Jack Morgan, was good friends with King George VI – Charles’ grandfather.
Quote:
But representatives of the British Consulate didn’t skim over the event’s blatant irony.

“We’re just about to begin the celebrations for 250 years of American independence from the British monarch, and here we stand in this temple of American freedom and prosperity to celebrate the birthday of the British monarch,” Chandra said during his speech.

Back in the 1600s, King Charles II ousted the Dutch from New Amsterdam and gave the territory to his brother, the Duke of York – renaming it New York in his honor.

This is pretty much NYC's version of the Sears Tower. I took some pics of it while on Hudson Yards a few months ago on my last trip to the city. It's pretty nice.

Everything looks premium quality.

It screams the future of streetscapes. Compared to the regular building that meets that ground directly from the edges, this actually feels like design progress. I mean, it feels more natural, as that's how plants work too (trunk opening up into branches).

While wandering around in NYC today, I started wondering which 5 skyscrapers in the city were the most internationally recognizable. I believe the top 4 are the ESB, Chrysler, 1WTC, and the UN Headquarters. Do you folks think 270 Park Ave will eventually become the 5th most recognizable? 111 W 57th St is another contender.

I can see that. Maybe not to this new generation. But the UN Building has long been one of the recognizable landmarks on the NY skyline. I think 270 Park will join the bunch, but there is much more competition now, built and coming.

Jamie Dimon and Ken Griffen are anchoring icons. Hopefully, we'll learn soon who the third finance leader is who's anchoring 175 Park.

I was on the fence about this building until I saw it in person, it's gorgeous! I love the simple shape, it reminds me of a modern Empire State Building. The night lighting is especially beautiful.

As much as I love postmodern 383 Madison, I think the dark glass reclad will help 270 fit in even better with it's surroundings.

^ I agree. I'm also curious as to what the design for 250 Park will be. It's likely that it will match the other two.
