Oh whoah! I had missed the removal of the slip lane across the street!

North Ave NW is a terrible pinch point in Atlanta. Will be interesting to see what comes of the potential BRT lanes along this stretch, even if they’re years (decades?) out in the future. The bus routes that exist along this stretch have decent ridership and I imagine that will continue to grow and density advances in western Atlanta.

Even still, the project two of you went off about connectivity is a half block off North Ave transit corridor. Hopefully, when the rest of that neighborhood gets redeveloped, more roads and pathways can be built. The existing suburban apartments were built about 25 years ago.

(I am still wondering about why Libertarian is calling the student apartments to be "future slums".)

I hope that is the case, as well. Those suburban style apartments have been there for awhile, but they are not that bad. At least they are on some kind of grid and if those lots are redeveloped in the future, those blocks can easily be retrofitted.

Anyone know the status of the Campanile Addition? The building demolition looks complete, yet no new construction has occurred in months. The lay down area in the block south of the project looks like an active site, yet no crews are doing any work. I’m sure the folks working in that building must be confused and frustrated at the lack of progress.

The word on the street is that Dewberry is looking for a new contractor, so project is on hold...likely will not start back up until well into 2021. It's a disgrace to have to look at that...at least they re-opened 13th for traffic, but still...

The Dallas real estate company that once proposed to demolish the Margaret Mitchell House just bought a prime development site across from the Atlanta landmark.

Trammell Crow Co. paid $17 million for the .85 acre Midtown parking lot at 10th Street and Crescent Avenue across from the 3-story Tudor home where Mitchell wrote Gone With The Wind, a widely popular and historically inaccurate novel about Atlanta during the Civil War. The parking lot was owned by the Atlanta Historical Society. It sold the property to Trammell Crow Co. on Nov. 16, according to Fulton County deeds. The deal was among the most expensive on a land square foot basis in Midtown this year and a show of investor confidence.

Future high-rise: Trammel Crow executive Brandon Houston, who led the purchase on behalf of the company, according to property deeds, could not immediately be reached about plans to develop the trophy site. It stands just south of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and next to the Midtown MARTA station. Trammell Crow's Houston is known for work on the developer's projects, such as Twelve24, a 16-story office building next to Perimeter Mall and the Dunwoody MARTA Station.

I am very curious as to what the mix of uses will be for this site. Prime location for infill and to expand retail offerings along this section with such close proximity to Peachtree and the MARTA station. The foottraffic in the area is already very high, so there’s a lot of opportunity here.

Appears the site includes the credit Union. From the article:

“ Brokering the deal: Atlanta Historical Society chose Cushman & Wakefield to market the property, and a team led by Matt Hawkins brokered the $17 million sale to Trammell Crow. Fulton County valued the site at $3.1 million for the past several years, according to tax records. Delta Community Credit Union has leased a building on the property.”

I had to laugh at the idea that someone thought it was necessary to add that qualifier to say nothing of characterizing an obviously character-driven story as being about a city rather than a few specific people in and around it.

Update on the two-tower Toll Brothers project at 1018 W. Peachtree. I haven't heard anything on this in 11 months, but they filed a planning permit yesterday to give a separate address (Spring st vs W Peachtree st) for each tower. Hopefully this one moves forward.

Demolition permit filed for 153 Peachtree st SW. Looks like an old two story brick building that is literally falling apart. Maybe built in 1910, but online records are notoriously inaccurate. Anyone have more info? Is it demolition for safety, or is something planned for that lot in the south downtown redevelopment?

It looks like a car might've hit it. It's clearly damaged and roped off with caution tape on the current Google Street View, but if you go back in the timeline to November 2019, it's still perfectly intact.
