I think by 2025. It still needs some of those larger proposals completed. It seems we're not seeing alot of new proposals lately.

I trekked about 3 miles in City West, South Park and the Historic Core yesterday, and I'm just not seeing more crazies or homless as some have stated recently. It looked the same it always did. Broadway between 4th and 5th was the worst, but it's always been that way. Only one guy made somewhat uncomfortable, but it turned out he was harmless.

Spring St looked fantastic, very lively. South Park still has some dead zones but it's such a work in progress I give it a pass.

I think Spring Street, 8th, 9th and South Broadway will be a decent destination for NBA all star weekend with all those new bars/restaurants.

I'm glad that huge development near El Pueblo knocked out that MASSIVE TENT CITY nearby. A few tents remain, but it's nothing like it was.

hard to believe govt officials actually tested atom bombs on the surface back in the 1950s. They must have not cared about the amt of radiation contamination they'd spread.

I feel sorry for the old timers of LA who were similar to today's ssp'ers. Think of all the decades that those ppl who were interested in dtla.... & wishing for it to be better....would have to experience as the hood went through mainly continuous decline. Nothing hopeful for yrs & yrs on end.

that would be like living through a horror show for ppl in this forum of today.

Yes - for those who don't understand, the 2024 and '28 Olympics will be awarded to Paris and LA simultaneously. So, assuming Paris gets the '24 games, LA '28 is a done deal unless the city withdraws, which I don't see happening.

2018 would also coincide with the 100th centennial of the Academy Awards. There could be a yearlong citywide celebration, with the area's museums, theme parks, and movie studios all taking part.

I'm not sure what you're saying. Rowing at Lake Perris in 2028 is part of the official bid that the IOC will approve in July.

In any case, any discussion of air quality in the Inland Empire is unrelated to Downtown LA and should be discussed in the LA Metro thread.

Well Chino had shooting events in 1984 and if anyone knows Chino knows that it's essentially a giant dairy. Lake Perris is fine. If olympians could handle the elevation of Mexico City and the smog of Beijing, the IE should be cake. Besides which, LA in 2028 is all but official.

The SF-LA high speed rail is expected to be finished by 2028/29. Reports haven't mentioned it because it's so unlikely to finish on time, but we can wish. It may be possible to fast-track it now that the Olympics are part of the equation.

The renderings of the LACC in the Olympic package show the renovated bright red version we saw earlier. It should still be on track although we haven't heard anything recently. The olympics will press the renovation to come through
